or is it the availability of finance without stringent checks on personal income ? ? ?

Everything is expensive! Went into a newsagent earlier and a can of coke was 75p. Decided to go on elsewhere. I'm also dreading filling my car up:n:

Its very rare to find someone completely FREE on debt.

Prob with this country everyone is out to make a buck. Finance is avaliable without any real checks. I went to an NHS hopsital a few weeks back was sitting in a hot room for 5 hours before we even got seen. This was at 1am. Good to know my money is spent wisely

your wait in A&E has no reflection on the tax you pay.
in was probably just a busy night (i.e. saturday), i know most A&E departments are extremely busy for a number of reasons such as GP's not doing out of hours service and foreign immigrants believing they are to be used for minor symptons (which they should consult a doctor about)

Remarkably sensible reply. Are you sure you're not me? :y:

I'll not get into the A&E debate (unless anyone has a burning desire to), but I wonder whether your A&E visit was truly necessary?

ive always said to myself i think its manageable if its under what you earn a month. Some guy of the TV moneysavingexpert i think said that. oh and always pay over 10% of what you owe apparently:y:

Congrats on the impending parenthood. I would have thought that most maternity units would have a "fast-track" admission policy rather than expecting expectant mothers to wait in A&E if there was a problem. Hope she is well now.

You have got a say in it. Every 5 years or so you get the power to choose your next government. I think on balance though, I'd rather live in a country where people want to get in, as opposed to one where they are literally dying to get out of. Wouldn't you?

Right here goes my debt ....

£4k Student Loan
£3.5k Graduate Loan
£1.4k Graduate Overdraft
£8.9k In Debt

Student Loan was purely because of one year at University
Graduate Loan - Low / No Interest On Loan Amount
Graduate Overdraft - No Interest / Charges On Balance

So I would class all this as pretty much being free money, all adding to a better credit rating, giving a lower interest rate when it comes to the time of gettin the big old 'Mortgage'. So having short term debts will help you in the long run.

Another way to look at things is that you can't take money or debt to the grave, so if you get a chance to get your hands on it ... TAKE IT!

TypeRhys
6th December 2007, 20:00
at least with a student loan there is no pressure to pay it off quickly and the interest is relatively small.

I'll take a wild guess and say I owe probably more than a lot of you (except mortgage owners).

£21k student loans
£2-3k overdraft
£10k parents

parents are my priority once degree is over although they say they dont want paying back

Debt indeed. Student undergrad, second year at Uni, still stubbonly clinging onto his beloved (but deeply, painfully expensive to run) car, tuition fees, 2k insurance, loan, credit card, probs 10k deep in debt already and I'm not even 20 yet. F.U.C.K :P

genuinely though I feel bad about the money I owe to my parents. They've been great and i wouldnt be this far without them.

it is true cost of living is a joke absolute joke with everything rocketing up from taxes - houses - prices of food it certainly all adds up. i was debt free couple month ago now i got finance on a car paid off over 3 years easy enough, i dont think anyone on here will be able to say they are truely debt free. if they do then you could put ALOT of money on the fact they certainly dont "own" there own house
