Afternoon,

I hope someone can help me, i think i have a single plug 1999 Saxo VTS.
I'm trying to hook it up for home diagnostics. From what i understand it has a OBDII port on the car (under the fuse box, 16 pin plug) and i require a ELM327 interface module, and some software that is freely avalible ont he web like digimoto lite.

Can anyone confirm if the 1999 VTS is OBDII compliant?
Has anyone successfully connected to a single plug VTS using a ELM327 module?

Thanks

Matt

I use a elm327 scanner to show faults and read/display live data on my VTR. I have heard that these devices will not work with anything under 2001 though?

I use this

Elm327 (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/OBD-OBD2-ELM327-USB-CAN-BUS-Tool-Interface-Scanner-U327_W0QQitemZ370003771566QQihZ024QQcategoryZ30921 QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)

I think that these devices are used more for the uk cars before the year 2000.

Euroscan (http://www.techgsm.com/Car_Diagnostic_Interface_Euroscan,5048.html)

Not all cars before 2001 are OBDII complient in the uk! Even though they have the OBDII plug. Most elm327 devices work with.....

* Petrol cars in Europe market from 2001.1
* Dissel cars in Europe from year 2004
* Cars in the USA market from 1996
* Light truck

I just replied to your PM dragster.

Lozza, is yours a 3 plug or a single plug type ECU? & what software do you use, i have the exact same piece of kit as you but couldnt get it to run on my single plug 2001 VTS, i have a suspicion it was because i was usig my macbook pro as the PC though :err:

I have a 3 pulg ECU matey (2001 VTR), most of the software on this page works with my car.

Elm327 software (http://www.scantool.net/?mode=displaySoftware&os=Windows%20XP)

I have heard of people that have single plug ECU's before and the device will not seem to communicate with it.

Here is a bit more info mate, if you have the required pins for any of the protocols then it should work really.

And get ripped off, much easier to do it yourself. Used diagnosis equipment on most of the cars i have had, saves so much money. :y:

Car has no mot, and won't get an mot due to a missfire causing overfuelling. So i need either a mobile diagonostic, or do it myself.

Thanks

Bit of a dig but i never got to the bottom of this.

Mines a 2000 X reg single plug Mk2 VTS and iv tried using an ELM327 unit above connecting to several laptops using various different pieces of software.

The connection is made but then they all pop up their own error stating either the ecu doesnt respond, car isnt obdII complient, ignition isnt on etc.

Are the single plugs really not obdII? Has anyone had an ELM327 working on a single plug?

:)

I agree! for all the hassle its worth,

I have had quotes ranging from £30-£60 to hook it up on a machine.. turns out citroen garage as my last resort actually turned out to be the cheapest! half an hours labour charge at £55 p/h so £27.50 quick cheap & hassle free.
