Hey all,

Just been driving back home from a hotel down motorway at around 65 mph (3000rpm) when i heard a low - middle pitch rubbing/humming sound from front of the car when i eased of the acclerator. Went away when i accelerated. Sounds to be like something to do with a belt)

Carried on driving home anyway as wasnt't too far away. Parked it up outside and left it for about 15 mins. Just had a drive about and everything sounds fine.

This isn't the first time I've heard this noise. It happened about 6 months ago when i wnet on the motorway as well. Been on the motorway since though (was on on the way the to the hotel on Thursday!)

Any ideas people??

Thanks for reading and replying!

may be worth checking the alternator drive belt. Also start up and have a listen under the bonnet.

Had this problem on a couple of my saxos turns out to be power steering pump, i think its dirt in the system changing the pump stops the noise. I have it occasionally on my current saxo and have done about 6k with it occasionally happening and im in no rush to change the pump, just put up with the noise/vibration.

hope it is just something to do with the power steering pump stalkah66!
would i be able to check it over somehow? what should i look out for?

just find it strange how it went away for half a year and has only happened (so far) whilst motorway driving
