Hello.
Cunning plan right here.
A good way to get an iPhone in my current situtation....Here it is...
I currently have about 8/9 month left on my current T-Mobile contract.
Heres what im going to do, Buy theee best phone on the market at the moment, on an O2 contract.
Sell that phone on ebay £250-300 (hopefully) that money will then pay off the remainder of my current T-mobile contact. So all i have now is my current mobile and a new o2 contract.
Now go to Apple and buy a iPhone and unlock it.
Then you have an iPhone on a good contract with O2 and the actually phone you go free bought me outa my current contract.
Question is, what is the most expensive phone to get for a resale value.
thanks
Karl

surely youll lose dollar this way?
iPhones are like....£500 a handset are they not?
Robb
10th December 2007, 09:58
they arent 500 for resale as you can get them for 270 from o2.
leck your probably looking at the n95 to be honest.

No iPhones are £270 for the handset, You then take it home to register your mobile on iTunes and sign up to your mobile contract. But you unlock it instead of registering it so.....

iPhones are not money friendly when unlocked
i have been told they constantly check the network via GPRS for updates etc
the result is the user paying as if they have sat on the net all day
under their proper contract this charge doesnt occur

Well Adams been fine and the other thousands that are unlocked in the UK.

cant wait till he gets a 900 pound phonebill.
Karl

I thought the iPhone was £270 and a contract with O2.
If you just wanted the handset with no contract tied in £500 alone for the handset.

Yeh he has. Loads of people have had them in the uk since the summer and no 1 else has had a problem

You cant buy it without contract for Pay&go.

nope.
you cant buy it like that. you buy the phone sim free in the first place. then you take it home and chose your own contract.
by the way leckie, i can probably get you a legit iphone for say £210.

how soon could you get me it?
To resolve the web charge if what your sayin is true (which imo isnt) you can just pay for the web bolt on for £7.50 a month. Which i would do anyway as i would be using the net on the phone.

im just going from what ive heard
was probably a shitty unlock they had done

£210 sounds good to be mate.
Get back to me, does that include any form of warrenty, could i take it back to apple if it brings a fault or are they reported stolen or anything like that?

Actually works?
Care to explain?
When you unlock a UK iphone to work on o2 the only function that doesnt work is the special voicemail service, standard voicemail works fine. Minus that its exact same as a uncracked firmware iPhone.
As the new firmware are released so are the cracked versions.

i had this plan, got the itouch and then my n95 8gb...already had my 30gb ipod video so i couldnt justify keeping the touch.

yeh, no drama. will ring him at lunch.
it seems like a good idea to be fair.
i could do the same, then once leckie has one I will get one. seeing as the only thing stopping me currently is my techno-phobeness with all this firmware malarky. this way leckie can do it and then tell me how to do it. ;)

thats completely different to waht you said tho.
I do agree the software is dated but still....
djrem
10th December 2007, 10:31
its not the software
its the hardware
the iPhone has probably the best user interface ever on a phone
its a shame its controlling some hardware thats already years out of date.
2 megapixel camera? no flash? a battery you cant replace wtf.
and im sure the little features like the screen turns as you turn will be annoying as fuck on a train as you try and read with it waving around everywhere
Clouds_mate
10th December 2007, 10:32
The Screen turns aint as fast as you think mate, I had a go with one last week in the o2 store.
Takes about 4seconds before it flips around.
Karl
10th December 2007, 10:34
other than me (who doesnt have a digital camera) who rly cares about the quality of a camera on a phone?
I want it because it looks pimp.
Robb
10th December 2007, 10:40
the no mms feature would really fuck me off.

well my experience with phones that look good but function crap revolve around the Nokia 8800:
http://www.amobil.no/artikkelbilder/nokia_8800_duk_l.jpg
Battery life was about 12 hours standby and if you make a call. pffsh, itd better be important.
Worst phone ive ever used.
I like the iPhone. Its sexy.
But im going to hold out and wait for the 6 month bubble to pop and see what the market is saying about them.
because if there is going to be something defective, its going to be found at the end of that peroid.
Robb
10th December 2007, 10:44
Nokia 8600 > Nokia 8800.
equally as shit but looks oh so smart.
had it for 2 weeks but had to take it back.
Jacko
10th December 2007, 10:50
i can see the iphone being a shit phone.
would be fun to show off, but that novelty would wear off after a week or so...

My Phone wont cover the cost of my contact i dont think. Although i could sell my Nano as that would bring the figure nearer.
Just the contact on iphone is pap tho.

If you have taken insurance out, then they buy your contract out, ask for an ACP, that menas hte insurance company buys 02 or whomever with out, just say your hpone keeps crashing (they never check) and that it occasionaly turns itself of,
then thats it canceled, nno need to pay a penny!
Thats what ive done all the time, as you know i have the iphone, the flip this took less then 4 seconds for me, infact its instant?
Great phone, the camera is perfect for what you normally use a camera phone for, i mean you wouldnt use it for photography thats what a proper camaera is for, so no problems the GUi is perfect only thing i hate is predictive text
no need to worry about MMS as thats an update in January (14th irrc)

my phone isnt worth £250
its a k800i. isnt worth the hassle.
I once dropped a brandnew nokia matrix phone into a bowl of soup. The hassle going through the insurance for a replacement was a fucking joke. Having to pay excess too.
Alot of insurance policys dont cover for water damage too.

who was your insurance with CPW by anychance?
I know they do the contract breaker on there insurance. 3 months on a 12month contract and 6months on a 18month contract.
Take the phone into shop and cancel the contact there and then. Used to do it all the time.

good gadget but the novelty will soon ware off and your left with a very expensive phone which on features is not worth the money you paid apart from the fac its touch screen without a stylus. i was reallllly close to buying one from usa had more money than sense at the time even bid about 5 times (sooooo glad i never won) 300£ + the contract is ridiculous, its just a cool novelty

saying that i used my ipod for a month then just stopped using it.
If you get the use from it then go for it
