ez people, im a relatively new member round here, i just received my premium membership stuff the day before yesterday (thanks simo')

I thought i would tell ya'z my car and what i've done to it so far.

so lets get started:

I brought the car in October 04, i traded in my old nackered 106 and got 400 nicker off the askin price of the vtr. I ended up payin £3400 with a full years warranty, brand new MOT, and 37,000k on the clock. the car was in mint condition, and the previous owner was in his 40s so its doubtful that the car has been ragged.

first thing i did to it was sprayed the intrior dash bits the same colour as the bodywork. pics:

i did that in mid november, and a few days after that i put my headunit in:

Pioneer DEH6400r (the one with the blue dolphins)

then i had a major shortage of cash until january.

in jan i brought a sebring backbox with 3.5" tailpipe to go on, i fitted that myself too, sounds nice and its subtle which is what i was after. pics:

about a week later i sprayed my rear badges and brought some lexus rear lights:

but then i decided i didnt like the lights and sold them for some ultra clear ones, i also got round to sending off my docs for my numberplate which my parents paid for, for xmas... that went on too:

(excuse the missing badge, it needed touching up as it has a paint chip)

i have just recently sprayed my front grille too:

i need to order some new plates as it says pug 106 on them as i was originally buying the plate for my peugeot.

and this weekend i brought a mk2 rear wiper and this spoiler:

i hope to get this sprayed and fitted within the next few weeks.

the next step is to get it lowered then to get some nice big shoes.

let me know what ya all think. i can take criticism so be as harsh as you like smileys/smiley2.gif

Looks very nice mate. Simple and clean. For the plates you should try Ritchie from this forum. He has sax-p ghosting and badges availiable.

wicked! yeh im not too concerned with making it huge yet, im only on £12500 a year so i dont get too much money to spend on it. im gonna go for a nice clean and subtle look for now, i want to concentrate on the engine once i have got it slammed and some wheels on.

its likely that when i have it lowered and then alloys, i will tint the windows, and get the black strips colour coded too. then i will save up for some nice engine modifiations. need to look into it a little bit more

i've just been looking around the site at what simo's done to his. i must say its lookin rude, i REALLY like the 17" mille miglias on that silver saxo! with the wings west kit. they are gorgeous

it was a piece of piss mate, i just got them off by wedgeing a credit card style bit of plastic behind it and took it off... i didnt do it as throrough as i did the inside, i primered, painted a few layers and laquered. takes about an hour to do, then i got some sticky pads and stuck it back on. be careful tho as they bend and snap easily

Looking good m8, don't think I'd like to have a go at painting interior bits myself cus I know I'd mess it up so fair play to you for doing that!!!

well i will give ya'z a little guide:

1st of all, choose what colour you are going to do it. go to halfords (or a store of your choice) and buy the colour you are after, also the correct primer, and some laquer. this should cost you about 4.99 per tin for each of these (at halfords). also get some very fine wet/dry paper.
go home, get your haines manual out and follow instructions on how to take the components out. (for the benefit of those who dont have a haynes manual.. get one! or if you are too tight to get one, there are 5 screws that need to come out of the middle part, and the side vents just pop out. the 1st screw on the middle bit is at the very bottom underneath, there is then two more on the underside of the stereo indent (above the heater contols) and then theres 2 more beind the panel of buttons (these just pop out too). make sure to unplug wires and remember what goes where, its fairly simple but just in case!

once you have got the lot out, wash it throughly, get off all traces of grease, dirt, and polish etc. then dry it off with a clean towel, make sure it is bone dry before you continue.

get the wet dry paper and lightly rub the surface and edges just to graze it. this helps the paint stick better. once you have dont that, wipe over thoroughly with clean cloth to get dust off. then when you are satisfied with it being dry and clean, start to paint it.

i did 5 light layers of primer (until fully covered + 1 more for safety) u should wait 20 mins between each coat, but in dry conditions, 5-10 is sufficient in my opinion.
then i did wait 20 mins for the primer to be completely dry, the start to paint it, thin layers over and over until you think it looks good. 10 mins between each coat.
then once ur happy with that, laquer it. 3/4 layers would do the trick. then its best to leave it for an hour to properly dry then whack it back in the car.

when ur sprayin, dont get too close that it gets thick and patchy, or it will run. keep at least 35-30cm between it and the paint can. spray side to side and at different angles to get in all the nooks and crannies.

i hope that helps you a lot, it might sound a bit patronising, and i know a lot of it is fairly obvious and textbook, but thats just how i achieved it.

good luck
