View Full Version : thinking of fitting new locks on saxo

a few months ago somebody had a go at my girlfriends driver and passenger door locks on her saxo.
this resulted in her having to lock the doors from the inside (by popping down the nib and shutting the door) when leaving the car and using the boot (by leaning in and pulling up the locks) to get back in again.

she took it to her local garage and when she went to pick it up they'd only fitted one lock (they said the other was fine) and gave her two spare keys.
....problem is that she has to use a seperate key to get into the car from the one to start it!

(in fact now neither locks work again)

i was hoping someone could point me in the direction of a guide to fitting new locks on it...would it be in haynes?
and also where would i get the locks that would correspond with the original key?... or can i use any key and lock as long as i get it coded at the citroen garage?

any help and advice would be mucho appreciated.

ps not central locking...older style

Be easier to get a full lock set including the ignition barrel then its all one key

not sure if the peugeot one will work but most parts are interchangeable

edit: or theres a one with the keypad immobiliser with it

i know its a pain in the ass.. shes trying to sell the thing but isn't wanting to shell out even more cash before she does..hence me trying to find out if i could sort it.

those ebay links look like the way to go to start with though

Get it delocked.

i know this is a stupid question but what does it entail by delocking the car? does that mean taking all the locks out, fitting some kind of remote central locks, fill the gaps then spray it?

if it is...sounds like a bit of a big job for me...maybe though.

if you have remote central locking allready you can remove the locks and just use the fob to lock and unlock the doors.you would need to have a piece welded in where the locks were and then the doors resprayed

thanks for the reply. unfortunatly it doesn't have central locking but older style instead.

it's away to get sold soon enough so dont really want to dish out much more cash on it if i can help it.

i was just going to see if i could get hold of a lock set and fit it myself but cant find a guide of some sort anywhere...do you think haynes would be any help?

the haynes manual will help and you can buy solex replacement locks which are better than standard ones . They use a key similar to a bike d lock which means you can force them with screwdivers , this way you would have one key for the locks and one for the ignition and wouldnt get confused as they are a completely different key. plus the car would be more secure

Get it delocked.

I agree. When my car was broken into I got the car delocked as it was only £50 extra from having the hole they made welded up again. Cost £225 for it, will rpobably be cheaper as well

I dont know why they dont make the central locking like the one on my old Astra. When you locked it, you could open it by pulling up the pins inside (unless you locked it with those). So basically breaking the glass and pulling it did nothing. So youd have to climb in through the window... Which I rekon would put alot of people off.

Whereas the Saxo, all you need to do is smash and open.

My Saxo is a 2000 model, and has inferior security to a 1995 bottem end astra.

Sad tbh.
