Right a while ago I was at the petrol station, fueled up as normal went to get in the car and the immobiliser light was flashing away at me and the temperature gauge would go up and down 3/4 times then just stop working go to the 'off' position.
I called the RAC out and he didnt have a clue either, he thought it was the chip in the key. So I was towed home and had the car towed into citroen. This is where it all began..
The technician said they have spotted a 'break' in the wire where it has been rubbing in the engine bay, and that is what is causing the none start problem. So he re-routed a wire across the front of the engine bay, which looks tacky as f**k, with a fuse half way down. Now the problem I had was the fuse kept blowing on every journey which would then cause the battery to stop charging, the battery light to flicker and the car would eventually die if I didnt bang a new fuse in, this wire is permanently live. Bearing in mind the car wont start if the fuse is blown. This job cost me £190 in citroen.
I had it back in citroen because the problem became worse and it started to melt the fuse, he said it was just engine heat and re-routed it which is a load of bull as it still does it. They are now saying it needs a wiring loom or an ecu. I had an external electrician check the job over and he thinks its not a break in the wiring but a problem somewhere else.
Now the wire they have routed from goes from the little red box (under the ecu), black wire in the loom, all the way across to the fuse box. Anyone any ideas what this problem could be? The wire controls the fuel pump circuit and when the wire is disconnected the fuel pump doesnt kick in when you switch the ignition on.
I know this problem is a 1 in a million but worth a shot? Any help much appreciated. Also if it does need the wiring loom changing, how much would I be looking at as a total price?

The problem I have is that I have paid so much money for a job to be sorted and they have barely sorted it and made the whole car a fire hazard. It was caledonia citroen in chester. I didnt really want to go elsewhere because I am quite skint at the moment and when you pay for a job to be sorted, I dont really want to pay again for the job to be done properly. What options do I have?

personally mate id demand to see the manager, explain whats happened and that it be sorted properly, altho citreon tend to be a bit more expensive than a private garage.
if you have paid that amount of money you want the job doin right, not another penny come out of your pocket i'm sure alot of others on here would be extremely unhappy with that sort of treatment!

I agree with Westy, go in and speak to the manager. Id be fucking mad as fuck if I was u. Tell him how much you've spent on ur car at the garage to be told its been fixed and it hasnt. Also about the shabby job of that cable and blowing the fuse all the time. Id want whatever needed to be replaced with some sort of discount or free of charge!
I had a problem with my saxo not to long ago, checked everything and still wouldnt start, turned out I misplaced a fuse in the wrong place (wooops) but they charged me £69 for an hours labor. But thats Citreon for u and my fault for not checkin the correct places.

Well, took the car back into caledonia citroen last friday and the workshop manager did not seem impressed with the job that had been done at all. Ok so all is good he accepts to re-do the job properly and admitted that the job done is not the kind of job they would usually do, only if a customer didnt want to be faced with a big bill which I wasn't even offered.
Ok so I walk away quite happily leaving the car with them, knowing they were going to fix it without any problems right? Wrong!
I rang citroen on tuesday lunch time to find out how they are getting on with the car, the service manager said they have found the fault and they are going to fit a double injection relay to it on wednesday, one of the lads has one at home and is going to bring it in. Only problem being they are not allowed to order any parts in or sell any parts as they are going under new management.
Wednesday comes, I ring them up. Receptionist says: Sorry we are closed today for stock taking. Now as you can imagine this is quite annoying when they tell you - you can have your car back that day and they are closed?!!
Today, rang them up. Receptionist says: Sorry we have all lost our jobs, every one has been sacked so we dont know when you will have your car back because we are all thick and extremely gay. (not her exact words, but you get the point). I went down there on my lunch hour and spoke to someone about getting my car back or how to go about getting it repaired, he said everyone has been sacked we are waiting for the receivers to come in as we are being taken over, dont know when you will get your car back!
He went to hunt for the service manager to find out more information about my car but turns out she was at the pub!!!
So, no car and doesnt seem to be any hope either. Trades & standards me thinks.

If they have gone into receivership there should be a notice on the building somewhere of which company is doing it with a phone number, you need to call that number ASAP and make sure they are aware the car is yours and not the companies assets. If you don't do this asap you could be waiting along time!

I have been in and spoke to them several times, left a note with someone for the service manager and the receptionist with my registration, name and contact number. The receptionist said that citroen will be in contact with me shortly about what to do with my car etc. There are no signs about them going in to receivership anywhere I did look around :(

Well, got a phone call today saying my car is ready to be picked up, everything sorted! Went to pick it up at 6 o'clock opened the bonnet, very tidy all the wires in their correct place as they should be. Happy days jobs a good'n. The mechanic decided he would fix my car even though he wasnt meant to be working but oh well :p
They told me that I need to replace the double injection fuel relay as I might encounter a few problems otherwise if I dont, I'm not too bothered about having to get one as I have my car back and its fixed ;)
Only problem I do have is that my brake warning light is on and it wasn't on before, I have checked my brake fluid level and the switch underneath the handbrake and they are both ok, so hopefully they will sort itself out when I get the new relay as their are a few wires going into it and since they have done the wiring my temperature gauge has came back to life, but does anyone know what might be causing this to be on? Rep waiting :y:
