View Full Version : lifespan of sax-p

As i'm now selling my saxo and moving on, it got me thinking that a good few years down the line i would like to get an old saxo, completely rebuild/restore it and make it into a awesome track machine.
This then got me onto thinking if sax-p will still be around when this time comes?
So how long do you think sax-p will continue to be an active forum?
Do you think it will still be around 10 or 15 years down the line when saxo's are a rare sight on the road?
I'm not so sure but i would like to think so.
I doubt the saxo will ever turn into a classic like the original mini or mk1 golf so i really dont know.
discuss....

ive rebuilt a 106.
I would never own another one.
They are deathtraps.
Shit suspension
shittily built
Poorly designed.
And crumple like tin foil
Dont get me wrong, i love my 106. Its been great but i look at the whore as just a reality celebrity.
In the end you vote them off and move on and get a wife instead of a dream.

I'll still be here for you mate:hug:
I'd like to think that 10 years down the line saxos WILL be classic cars (the well looked after ones) and that I will still own mine.
You do however constantly hear of websites closing down for legal reasons.
I would like to think the members of sax-p and all the admin can keep the sax-p the friendly community it is today and keep the site up and running.
Keep the knobs off, keep the site alive

Saxo/106's will be the new Pug 205 GTI. I have absolutely no doubt of that. Huge Following, Massive tuning potential, light and nimble out of the box.
I think much Like Nova's and 205's they'll go through a "recession" I think the Early VTR's are starting to fall into that now. Wit prices plummeting people are starting to pick them up cheap and do terrible terrible things to them. But like Nova's and 205's they'll come out the other side better for it. As people like us lot decide to buy one as a nostalgia trip and track day them etc.
Therefore there will always be a need for a Saxo forum like this one. I think its prolly got staying power. We just need to keep it evolving. Keep it fresh
That was to long a post!

i think that no matter what car you own, you can still be apart of this site, like many have.....and although in 10years most will have different car...if people still enjoy posting, and enjoy meeting up...then i cant see why it cant go on for another 10+years :y:

Doubt it will have the happy noobs will be down to hardcore members who are interested in track cars etc.
I see SSC as more of a hardcore website same with 106rallye. Sax-p i see as a more friendly forum.

I love Saxo's, very cheap to buy and run but are good car's which handle amazingly..

which handle amazingly?
I crashed because my 106 didnt handle amazingly. A car with all round real suspension handles better.

According to gazzza's "when will you die" (the second or third, perhaps 26th time) i put my details in, it said.
Jimo, you bastard, you'll be dead before sax-p. No date/year nothing.
So when you see my box being lowered, get the keyboards ready to save sax-p. :y:

Personally there wil always be new saxo owners, and they're the people that will populate the site. I've been around for 4 years others for anywhere up to 6 years.
I've moved on and back to the saxo and stuck around. People will stick around, goto other forums and pop back. It's a site that keeps regenerating, and will do so again.
The idea of meets and off site conversations between members was somewhat of a no no when i began here, but evolution took its course and the members took it that way.
And at the end of the day with members, saxp will stay.

As i'm now selling my saxo and moving on, it got me thinking that a good few years down the line i would like to get an old saxo, completely rebuild/restore it and make it into a awesome track machine.
Thats exactly what i did.... traded in a vectra sri v6 and bought a 52 plate vtr brand new in 2002, lasted a year before i craved a vauxhall again so traded it in for a 10month old new shape vectra sri, then had another new shape vectra elite before i started to get the urge for a track car. Bought a mk3 astra gsi (had traded the vectra in for a volvo v70 at this point), but track days wasnt enough so started hillclimbing and sprints. Astra was ok, but didnt handle that great, hence the recent purchase of my 98 Vtr which i know will handle better, but maybe not as quick in a straight line (theres not many straight lines in speed events). Came to Sax-P as it looked the best laid out and dare i say freindliest forum to get info on my latest purchase.
Sax P will be around for ages, maybe not in the same form but probably more biased towards track and motorsport than the show scene (who have all moved on to newer cars)

to be honest, i think your spot on.
i know i would love to have a high performance saxo for competition of some sort, especially as it was my first car. first 3 actually, thats how much i like them. obviously there are better cars out there , thats why i'm now moving on and selling up but if i had the option of keeping the a saxo as a second car then i wouldnt think twice about selling it.
i've wanted to compete in some form of motorsport for years but i've never had the oportunity, but hopefully that will change once i 've finished uni. i wouldnt mind doing hill climbing tbh.

This is actually a really good thread. Certanly got me thinking, as I just bought a brand new C2 VTS today and planning on selling my saxo. I really do hope the figureheads of the forum will still be here keeping it real lol :)

Great thread. Alot of good points made. Can completely see the Saxo being alot like the Nova and 205 GTI as a modding legend it won't just dissapear. Everyone will seek advice on this forum when they start dieing away. Heck the AX is still around-and in good form tbh. We've got another 20 years before the first batch of saxo's N reg onwards are too rusty and rattly for a run about.
Bring on the MK3 saxo, go on Citroen, scrub the C2 release a stronger less faulty saxo. Not too much to ask? :p
