I took my car for a drive to check the fumes coming from the rear. After I pulled over I began to drive off on a clear road.
I changed to second and began to accelerate next thing I know the accelerator got jammed and began to Rev very loudly. I went to pull it back up but it got stuck, so panicking I switched off the engine. In the middle of the road I eventually got help after around 20 cars drove past with the occasional odd "it's just a saxo driver look" (I just wanted a push to the pavement for christ sake!)
In the end after i was calming down, a man told me that what had happened was that the spring (?) that releases the accelerator got jammed and probably just needs WD40.
Now my engines is grubby (im being honest here) and has seen better days, I was going to get it steam cleaned in the new year for a present for the car  but should i really WD40 all the springs?
Any say on what actually happened this evening? And any adive on how to prevent it in the future?
