Can anyone talk me through it, and how to check the oil level first?
I cant seem to find where to check it, the haynes manual is confusing me big time too! Thanks

theres two ways people fill a box.

one is through the breather (not the best way) its on top of the gearbox under a little cap, the second way is to undo the filling point which is on the side of the gearbox.

cant remeber how to check levels lol

Undo the plug on the side of the gearbox (through passenger side arch, have to remove arch liner). and drain/refill from there. Once full (with 2ltrs of oil)slowly unscrew the filler plug. If the oil level is correct, a slow trickle of oil should run out of the hole. If this is the case, re-fit the plug.

2 holes on the gearbox one on the drivers side the other the passenger side have the car jacked up and supported

the drivers side one is for drainign the passenger is to check the level if some leaks out you'v got the level right if yopur like em then get a bit fook of length of pipe clear and use it like a drip in hospital attach a bottle of 75w80 castrol oil and squeeze till it stops then when youve filled it you'll have a sweat shifter but make sure when u check the level its flat doooohhh

ps id slick 50 or moly slip the gearbox if ur doign a change its polite when your drainign a lady to give her some extra lube
