What can i take off my car "SENSIBLY" to improve the speed?
Things so i can still use it for day to day use and to transport people so seats need to be in.
Is it a good idea to get rid of the spare wheel as i dont travel far from where i live ;)

if you arent gonna take the interior out i dont think theres alot you will be able to take out to make it faster,
theres plenty you can put on though ;)

hehe, nah not really bothered about sticking stuff on, just making it that tiny bit nippier ;)
So would getting rid of the spare wheel make any difference?

id say to make it go faster id put this in the right section on the forum first lol.
id say this needs to be moved to performance or quires section maybe?
as said above tho interior.
but wont change much its a 1.1 lol

except when you get a flat im guessing :ponder:
loose the doors.
seriously, worry less about speed and concentrate more on the fun from cornering. get some decent tyres.

Tbh if you looking at such a fine point, where very light clothes, and go on and dont eat 12 hours before you drive!
Minimise the weight :y:

haha, well i;m only 10.5 stone or something ;)
It does seem to fly when its just me in the car but abit more wouldnt go amiss
What helps the cornering/handling thats cheap then?

Toyo Proxis ftw.
As ads said above you will make up more speed if you improve your tyres brakes and suspension.
If you have a 400bhp car on standard running gear you will go 180mph down the straight then into the hospital as it refuses to turn or stop.
More power isnt the only solution to more speed (which is why i have a vts engine) lol but i have uprates brakes and suspension to and they really do help.
Hope this helps

ok, well a 1.1 isnt exactly a speed demon hence y i wanetd that little push but what can improve handling for a fair price? estimates?

Drop a K & N panel air filter in. Makes my 1.1 feel a tiny bit sharper. Just get rid of anything you don't need. Take the spare off, keep tyre weld in the boot instead, strip out the boot/headlining, floormats, any junk basically you don't use:y: Get some better springs to make it handle better and new tyres for better grip:p

Your never going to make it fast i'm afraid mate, not unless you want to transplant the engine.
However, decent front shocks, lowering springs, lower the rears to suit. Full polybush, strut braces. and some sticky rubber.
Sorted :y:

you basically cant make it fast... it just wont feel it.
however you can make it fun and to some extent fast in the corners.
springs - £80
upper and lower strut braces - £70
power flex suspension kits - £120
shocks - £200
full set of decent tires - £200
hope that gives you some idea, but theres no cheap way about it.

As said above, you are never going to make a 1.1 'Fast'. If you want a faster car then buy a faster car. No amount of stripping out or adding mods is going o make your car noticably faster. You might get a coupld of MPH more but if you drive the car flat out all the time, you are likely to crack your head gasket in no time.

save up for new Car..
Then when u save some UMMff behind you then you can strip it out then i t will be nippier... 1.1 & nippy don't really go together...
BUt Sort out handling will make it go faster as you wont have to brake :D
