just want to know if all the hype about the phones ability to be unlocked is true????

was playing with a one the other day and it was very good, just think the contracts that go with them are a rip off.

apparently you can get an unlocked phone in france, as its against frence law to sell a phone that is dedicated to one network, they think customers should have a right to what phone and what network they want.

i must say i will agree with the french on this one occasion lol

shame the uk are not like them on this matter ;)

get one of ebay from american then unlock it, yes u can unlock them easily as theres alot of software to do it online..

i have read about some things bricking the phone and some of the phones locking up when they have had a firmware update, just wanted to see if anyone has a phone that is working on another network from o2, was thinking of getting one and doing it myself.

some peeps may condone it??

depends what firmware u get, but u can install older firmware then unlock it, then update back again and its fine, theres some info in the multimedia section about it..

One of my colleagues has one which they have been using on Orange.

There are certain functions that can't be accessed on the network but apart from that not had any problems

these can simply be unlocked and generlly will work fine, like saxo180 said some features like any unlocked phone you might not be abele to use but most should be fine..

I'd go for it tbh Boz. I've got an iPod touch which i cracked myself & one of the 3rd party apps available is called anySim, so i imagine its actually that simple to do it!

better sat nav, 5mp cam etc etc list goes on....

i phone only has toutch screen and a fancy way of selecting stuff which takes up all the memory and its all rubbish... i would never have 1..
