I have decided next year my 180 is off and im buying something i slate regulary!

Yup a ford Fiesta ST :panic:

http://www.fanadeford.com.ar/images/news/fiesta_ST.JPG

Updated st pic as the last was a phase 1

I know they start off slow but they can be modded, my reason for sale when it comes is simple.. i bought my car on 32k miles in march this year and well now shes on 46k!!!!! which to me is entering the high milleage band. On 50k shes off simple as.

I recon i can still get at least 6k for her and then save up 2k and buy a nice 56 16k mile white with blue striped fezzy st.. or blue with white stripes.

insurance grp 14 rather than 17 im payin 4k fpft on the 206 2 years no claims.. + the car has super low milleage + its 56 plater for 8k i dont want to be roasted on insurance no more but want a new quick hopt hatch lol

Thoughts please guys!

Berg

seems a reasonable thing to do
4k is alot to pay insurance too

hope you find a nice st ;)

Certi
27th December 2007, 12:26
You pay £4k for insurance?! Bloody hell. I'm only paying £450 fully comp on my Type R.

Jamie
27th December 2007, 12:27
Thanks mate the only thing that puts me off the ST is the speed i know my current car would anhilate one so naturally i will be engine modding and lowering her when i get it :)

im only 20 i think that maybe why i pay so much insurance lol

TU-Tuning
27th December 2007, 12:27
Fair play they are nice cars, i like the look of em. Only thing is they dont really have much character imo, as theyre quite modded as standard so its hard to make them look different

Jamie
27th December 2007, 12:29
Colour coding a few bits like maybe the grille the same blue or something as the stripes? but i like the way they look id probably have the alloys either white or gun metal grey :)

Hanuman
27th December 2007, 12:35
you are NOT paying 4500 fpft mate simple

and regards to 40k being high milers are you mental

TU-Tuning

I know a guy who paid 12k fully comp on an M3 at 19, and it wasnt daddies monaes

Berg

you are NOT paying 4500 fpft mate simple

and regards to 40k being high milers are you mental

meaning when a cars mileage goes up the value goes down

Curran
27th December 2007, 12:44
they are nice as they are. i wouldnt even think about doing any body mods you will only make it look worse.

i would lower it and do something with the wheels though. i'm not sure if any aftermarket wheels would suit it so probly just spray the standard ones like you said.

Hanuman
27th December 2007, 12:45
yea but not at 40, maybe about 85+ you start to lose a hundred odd against 30kers

19K insurance on an M3, if that isnt daddies money then he must be a genius to have made 19k at 19 thats like £1500 a month they must be rich

S70KES
27th December 2007, 12:45
my mate has one of these goes ok. had a nightmare lowering it with out rubbin on his 17

Curran

if he's paying 19k on insurance he must be earning at least 30k. even then he would still be stupid to pay that much for insurance.

CampDavid
27th December 2007, 12:50
I was quoted £2900 on a brand new 911 Carrera 2 when I was 21.

I pay £3200 a year for my train fair. All in. That's my transport costs totally covered.

Fuck spending more than a grand on insurance. Especially for something so piss poor as a 206

Jamie
27th December 2007, 12:52
you are NOT paying 4500 fpft mate simple

Tell my bank im not paying aswell please and its actually £700 up front at the start of the policy & £262 a month for 12 months so just under really!.. & yeh it is fpft :n: aparently you have to be 21 to insure my 180 and i was 19 when i got her..

And as said the cars value will start to decrease which means i should sell asap to get the maximum i can for her,..

i bought her in march for almost 9k but that was when there was only 4 for sale on the trader now there are loads because they are all out of warranty which means a few months down the line i could have got her for just over 7k..

I wish my daddy would pay for my car lol its all me.

I wont do nothing to the ST which hasnt been tried and tested before in ragards to body mods.

thanks for all opinions guys keep them comming!

David i guarantee you would be suprised how quick my 206 is compared to standard i have been in 2 other 180s and mine feels so much quicker.

vtr_driver
27th December 2007, 13:05
4K!!! I can insure an Evo/Scooby/ Something actually good for that and I'm 20 with 0NCB and a claim!! Where do you live!!

ST's look good mate. Won't take much work to make it as quick as you 206.

Hanuman
27th December 2007, 13:07
suprised at that, as when you do quotes usually anything with a value over 5k they wont insure you for fpft unless thats just online,

as for paying it sorry mate ya mad 4500 WITH 2y no claims sounds like uv been robbed you could have surely done alot better no offence

Natalie
27th December 2007, 13:08
My dad is selling his. It's an 06 plate but it's the newer shape and has only done 7000 miles

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/256515.htm

Jamie
27th December 2007, 13:15
Ok heres the story behind it all.

Im not mad i would have never paid that money but, when i first got my saxo i was getting quotes for 4k from everyone until i found moneysupermarket which i ended up at 17 paying 1.2k on a mk2 VTR no 0 claims ect.

So when it came down to buying the 206 i got quotes from the site stating 2k at the most i would pay so on the basis that i had had silly quotes before and then recieved a rediculously cheap one and it payed off i bought my 180.

On the day of picking her up no one would touch me on insurance! They all said you have to be 21 to insure this car so i was then put on to a string of insurance brokers who id say were all one company and basically i knew they had me by the danglies.. it was 4 oclock and i had just till 6 to get my car! so i took the cheapest quote i could sadly.

I wouldnt have bought the car but based on the quotes from moneysupermarket and my previous experience i had already bought her.

I live in a high risk area the higher risk areas are litterally surounding my little town and are like 5 minutes away from me so yep i pay the price.

So in the new year around march shes off.

Japman
27th December 2007, 13:20
4k lol

you need to sell the 206,its not worth 4k a year lol

TU-Tuning
27th December 2007, 13:22
The guy that paid 12k, he was i a car accident and went into a coma. The doctors fucked up and almost killed him so when he woke up he sued them and got 800k. Bought 3 houses which he rents out now and the M3 which he kept for a year, hes sold that now and hes got an old TT Quattro. Lucky bastard tbh

mrtuck16v
27th December 2007, 13:40
Lol 4k on a 206....i only pay 2k on a pulsar!

Jamie
27th December 2007, 14:03
I like new cars thats another thing, whilst supras, pulsars, old school skylines are nice to look at i just wouldnt own one..

Luckily i can afford that sort of insurance, but now i have decided i would like something a lil cheaper to run + my other reasons so i can save for a house :)

Hanuman
27th December 2007, 14:11
surprised he got 800k dont think thats fair tbh no offence, people in the forces get nout for help, and heard a few stories where hosps av killed people and been lucky to get near 100k, provided hes 100% fixed now then hes one lucky person to claim 800k

Jamie

I can get Brand New Fiesta ST for 9grand, if i buy it through my mate who works at local ford :)

Im back! I managed to get a EF 75-300mm f/4 5.6 III USM Canon lense for my 400d for £180 at lakeside because it was priced wrong should have been £200

brand new 9k bargain! i will miss my pug defo but its life really i could buy another 180 but i would still be paying 4k for insurance which i just cant justify anymore even if it is quick its a rediculous amount.

I really like this car. I had a quick play in one, before I decided to get the C2 VTS. It was deffinately quicker as you would expect, it being a 2.0L. But the insurance was a bit high, plus as much as I like them I just couldn't have one. No idea why though

Predator_R32
27th December 2007, 19:31
ive heard a few people say that STs arent all what there cracked up to be, even still there a nice car and well built

smiith
27th December 2007, 19:43
why are people takin the piss for what he paid?

he is 19, most insurance companys wouldnt touch him for been under 21, and those of you sayin ner ner i can get insured on a tripple rocket powered super metro for 5p a year... thats because its a quote, go the real thing, wont get insured on it...

as for the super metro... incase youve never seen 1... heres mine

http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc203/5m17h/metroo.jpg

now stop been cunts about his insurance, and tell him what you think about the ST idea like his question was!

personaly, i think they are decent looking cars mate, if you get 1, lower it abit, spray the wheels like you said, and bang the rest on engine mods :y:

Predator_R32
27th December 2007, 19:58
if you have the money go for it but tbh i can think of better things to spend my money on

think people are saying that its not the right thing to do pay 4 grand for insurance because i certainly wouldnt, id rather keep the car i had for a few year till it drops

have you tryed some specialist insurance companies because surely you can get it cheaper than that, try the comparison ones :y:

Jamie
27th December 2007, 20:11
I tried everywhere mate im not interested in keeping her now anyway as i also said about the milleage to me its too much itl be 50k in 4k.

Thanks for the opinions/help with the ST as i never hada good word for them until i realised they arent as bad as made out... most people that tune the 180 actually detune them so at least the ST can be tuned quite well :)

Vinny_VSX
27th December 2007, 21:07
That is the first one I have heard to have an engine rebuild. A mate of a mate used to have one and I know after 2 years, the car was rusting quite badly. Apart from that, nothing to worry about ;)

Jamie
27th December 2007, 21:17
lol rustingggggggggggggggggg god i cant wait! i supose thats the good thing about french tin cans..

Tupps
27th December 2007, 21:23
My mate bought it on a 55 plate from a car garage (halshaw)...

Sold him it with illegal tyres, engine was knocking and horn broken

First 2-3 weeks of owning it he was never away from the garage trying to get the tyres sorted (got pulled over and warned about the tyres, 4 x new ones stuck straight on by the garage when they found this out)

Had to go in for a quick rebuild due to a horrible tapping (sounded like a G reg fiesta)

Got the car back then the radiator bust - went into garage and they replaced the head, radiator and gave him the car back with no oil in

Car blew up on the way home

Now he has a brand new engine in a 2005 ST where the clocks show around 40k

Vinny_VSX
27th December 2007, 21:28
Sounds like a quite a numpty (to put it nicely) to buy that car. Especially with bold tyres and a knocking noise from the engine.

Haha, fancy not filling the car up with oil. Gotta love some garrages.

Deffinately jamie. Gotta love these little french beasts. Mine hasn't rusted. Tis great :)

Tupps
27th December 2007, 21:30
dont really expect a 2 year old car to be running like such a bag of shit tho do you?

especially when evans halshaw say they wont let anything go out thats not 100% mint

Vinny_VSX
27th December 2007, 21:33
That is quite true. Thinking of it, this C2 VTR which I test drove was on an 06plate with 15k miles and that was knocking. Good job I didn't get that one.

Garrages lie unfortunately :(

On a slightly different note and I am too lazy to go to parkers. What insurance group is the 180? Also how does it fair up against the clio 182? :)

Cheers jamie (sorry for the slight hijack buddy)

Jamie
27th December 2007, 21:45
tis fine mate,

Group 17! and standard they are quick not quite as quick as a 182 but not far off mines remapped and the rest of my sig and id say its quicker tbh! i havent lost to one yet.. although i havent raced around a track but id say you would need a decent suspension set up for that.

so id say about the same though alot would disagree with the 180 standard.

Raz
28th December 2007, 09:34

ST's are shit i would much rather keep the 180, surely you would save more money getting a better quote on the 180 and just running it.

The 180 and 182 are very much the same in peformance and handling, i think that the 180 is a little bit rarer though.

For a 2 litre it was slow, the dashboard looks like toy town, and the centre console looks like a corsa's!
