Got chance of 2002 model saxo Vtr/vts conversion. Guy claims the car has done about 60k and the engine has bascailly done the same. It has been lowered, as the scoop filter on it, Full system and 4-1 manifold on standard vtr shoes. Guy says i can have it for £2400.
Also still registered as a vtr on book. what you guys think good price?
also insurance on a vtr for me is £1400 and £2200 on a vts.

its not a vtr or a vts though is it
its a vtr with a vts engine
your insurance will be high as a result : circa £2400-£2500

see av always wondered about this, so even if everythin is changed over so that its known as a vts - logbook etc you still have to say its a vtr with vts engine

As rem said, its not a VTS its a VTR with a VTS engine. Its not just the engine thats different in a VTS.
Insurance company will likely charge you more for a car with an engine conversion that for a standard VTS to be honest. You might getl ucky thou.

Try www.parkers.co.uk for price guidence!
So is the engine number on the V5 different to the one in the car?
Would be probmatic at MOT time or if car checked by the police!

why would this pose a problem at MOT time?
loads of people do the conversions and dont declare it how do they get around it?

you declare the engine swap to the dvla and you have to fill in forms with the new engine number on, they then send you a new v5 with the changes on so no need to worry bout mot
i wouldnt, you could get a vts for that price and have cheaper insurance, abs, extra airbag etc

well if u aint gona listen to what ppl say on here, buy it ;)
then when the police see the 16v engine in a 8v car, and find out its insured as a vtr, go to prison for insurance fraud ;)
