I'm presuming your talking about the bolt/nut that holds the tensioner for you cambelt to the engine, thus maintaining the tension in your cambelt.
If so.....I would replace it straight away!!! I wouldn't start your engine until it's replaced, or you'll do more damage, risking ruining your engine !! The cost around £30 from eurocarparts of gsf, the only thing is tensioning you cambelt up afterwards.
Depending on your mileage and service history, I'd take the time and replace the cambelt and the waterpump whilst you've loosened the belt.
If you're not mechanically minded then get it to a garage asap, but don't turn the engine over, or move it whilst in gear !!

sorry i mite have confused the issue by calling it a drive belt, alternator belt not the cambelt

It depends where abouts it has sheared, but I would try and get a replacement one from a scrappy, or if need be from Citroen, but maybe expensive.
If it's the part I am thinking of you might get away with a length of just simple threaded bar ? Something from B&Q, cut it to length then fit, should be a short term fix whilst you can source a proper one!

yea i think were talkin abt the same bit now! lol
could do that only how wud it tension as the thread bar on the adjuster has a ring on the end to allow tension to be achieve suppose i cud make one with a couple of nuts and washers, bloody squealing belt is doing my head in!

I understand now, I would just do a temporary fix for now if you must use your car - try and get to the scrappy to get the replacement fitting, or go to Citroen.
Could use two nuts tightened up against each other to turn the threaded bar to tension it?
