WalzVTR
7th February 2005, 15:41
I got 17's on a 60mm work, rubs like a sweaty fat womans thighs tho! I can only take 1 person in the car with me max! even then when you go over any sort of bump it rubs smileys/smiley13.gif
plans for this month - not to get in any more debt, so nothing for the car at all smileys/smiley19.gif

Right, get this guys.
I own a 1.4 westie at the mo. I'm 18, no no claims, been driving a year and 5 months. Cars in a garage. 600 miles a year.
On my mums name , I'm paying £60 a month.
Asked about a VTS conversion. They said:
The premium will increase to £201.80 per month (still under mums name) Quite a difference!
what you reckon you can do for me Walz! Even under my own name smileys/smiley19.gif smileys/smiley19.gif
WalzVTR
8th February 2005, 19:55
I cant do anything for you at all mate, my company will not insure anyone under the age of 20 as a policy holder.
Were you on about putting your mum as a policyholder? how come you got 0 NCB if you have been driving for over 1 year, have you not help a policy your self yet?
blimey just read through the above......its like prime ministers question time! smileys/smiley4.gif

Ive never been on my own name, as when I started driving, I didnt have the money to go on my own name ! smileys/smiley13.gif

£201.80 a month smileys/smiley3.gif

lol @ Danny, kick a man when he's down smileys/smiley4.gif
Al - Get your mum to try Norwich union Direct, im with them, £165 p/m with 1 yrs NCB, all mods disclosed and its only a 9th pol (scheme they do for young drivers) if you fancy taking it on yourself.
I wouldnt recomend fronting mate. its a no-go! smileys/smiley2.gif
SaxoAL
8th February 2005, 20:35
Walz , you on your own name ?
Fronting?!!

Al - My pol is in my name, im 18 but have 1 yrs ncb. the scheme im in is called a 'rapid bonus' policy which is a 9 month policy (instead of 12mths) and when thats up if you have had no accidents etc then you get 1 yrs ncb!
Fronting - When your mum is the policy holder (experienced driver) and you are a named drivedr (inexperienced) If you are going to be the main driver then its classed as fronting as your mum is basically obtaining a cheaper premium for you. (im not saying you are doing this, its just an explanation!) Also if you were/are going to do this in the future on the VTS conversion they will immediatley be suspicious of it and will take any oppurtunity to look into, us insurance people are sneaky bastards smileys/smiley4.gif
dannyelks
8th February 2005, 21:05
Good job your on our side then Walz and can tell us all the sneaking things insurance companies do smileys/smiley20.gif
WalzVTR
8th February 2005, 21:12
no chance, if I find out any of you little gits are doing this I will be reporting you to your relevant insurance companys pronto! smileys/smiley17.gif smileys/smiley2.gif
tbh some of the stuff that happens within insurance is a joke and sometimes it is unfair but contrary to popular belief we are here to help and pay out people fairly.
Its the people which do fraud insurers which make them put there premiums up.
If your fair and polite to your insurance company they will be the same to you. smileys/smiley3.gif ! lol
smileys/smiley4.gif
any questions about it then point em my way people. If I dont know the answer I will sure as hell find it out! smileys/smiley16.gif

What about some people say they put themselves as the main driver, then their mother as a named driver. So the opposite way to what I am doing at the mo.
WalzVTR
8th February 2005, 21:39
thats fine as long as the young driver is down as the priniciple user (main driver) it will prob make the premium cheaper to have an experience driver on the policy anyway. so basically yes its fine for you to be the ph and principal driver and an older/experienced driver to be a named driver. this will not cause any probs. tho you will have to be the registered owner and keeper of the car!
