Having just cross threaded and stripped a lot of the thread away on my rear stub axle whilst taking off my rear brake drum has anyone got an easy repair or any ideas on what to do. The manual recons its part of the whole rear suspension and needs replacing as a main part, anyone had this probem or got a cunning plan, cheers.

having just spotted another thread would I be correct in saying you can press/big hammer out the stub axle from the main suspension part then press another one in.

How badly f*@k'd is the thread?
One time when taking apart the rear drum I managed to strip a little bit of thread at the end, but with a lot of patiance (sp.), a bit of WD-40 (be v. careful to keep it away from any braking surfaces) to provide some abrasion and some very gentle teasing I managed to get the thread started again and the (new) hub nut on. Saved me what could hve been an expensive repair.
If its fairly bad then there are other ways of getting the nut on, hacksaws, taps etc. But its a rather important nut, one that I would want to be 100% sure was on properly and safely.
