Yeh i would say 99% sure it's headgasket unfortunately - if you have a haynes manual and am sort of mechanically minded then you can do it yourself which will at least save you the labour!

Get a compression test done to be sure before doin it thou

hey it could be worse. if you can do it yourself its definately worth it as parts are cheap. its just a time consuming job. make sure you have a torque wrench tho

i havent done a comp test yet but i will do today
the engine has done 79000 miles.
i thought that if the headgasket go's that there is water in the oil aswell as oil in the water?
also the coolant was changed a few weeks back so it aint manky coolant
i will do a comp test today and tell you all the readings
i have also been offered a 42000 complete engine for £330 so i might just get that, what do ya think

I'd do it yourself mate, its not hard, unless you bugger up the timing. then you are fucked.
But its not rocket science so get yourself a service manual. Not Haines, they just tell you to get big hammers out and take off things you dont need too lol.
And get stuck in.
