Right, so its that time again...

Got back from uni and have been working again. According to my schedule for the next few years I should be doing my brakes around about now.

The plan was originally to buy 306 cyclone alloys since they give a little more variation as to what brakes you can get. But, I'm gonna avoid this for two reasons...

1) Mainly money. Waaaay to expensive.
2) Also would like to keep the car looking as standard as possible as I want it to be a sleeper. Bigger alloys are starting to mess this up.

My question to you guys is...

Should I get 206 GTi calipers or Citroen Berlingo calipers? Which ones are better? I assume both will fit under 106 GTi standard 14" alloys...?

What disks should I get? Was looking into maybe Brembo MAX or Brembo Sport... Maybe Tarrox. Would kinda like drilled or grooved disks as they also look pretty cool... . What sort of size disks am i looking for here for both Berlingo and 206 GTi?

Pads? Again, don't really know what to look for. So any help appreciated.

My car is currently running around 125bhp with bmi induction and manifold. I plan to fit new suspension, an exhaust and cams and a remap by the end of summer and would like the brake upgrade to cope with the extra power... this is the whole point in doing it. Are berlingo or 206 GTi better? Are either good enough for 150bhp? ish

Looking to spend less than £200, less than £150 if possible.

Got a friend that works at Goodridge, so braided hoses will also be available. Will I need to upgrade the master cylinder?

Thanks peeps!

Also, meant to say. I have searched this forum and others already and still not sure of the answer. Maybe I am looking in the wrong places? So I just thought I'd start a new thread!

if you are going to put lots of power to your motor you need to be looking at the brakes a bit more seriously! as you will run out of bakes before you run out of power ,on a saxo.being able to brake later is worth more than a few mph so spend money on brakes before power so when you get the power you will be able to STOP sorry if i go on

Oh believe you me mate. I've taken my brake problem very seriously. Why do you think I'm doing the brakes as my first (major performance) mod? That is why I'm posting on here. For help - and tbh, your above post does not help, but thanks for replying.

It just seems stupid to spend large amounts of money on brakes that are going to be overkill.

The way I look at it is, by this time next year my car will be around 150bhp. And I wanted to check the brake system I'm talking about (206 GTi 266mm calipers, Brembo MAX disks, Mintex pads, Goodridge braided hoses and good fluid) should do the job. I just wanted to hear what you guys have to say first...

Obviously, when I finish uni and have the money to push the power of my car up from 150, I will be able to afford further brake mods.

Just get some 206 GTi 180 or GTi-6 Brakes, can fit under 15" wheels then.

Don't want to buy 15" wheels mate. Would like something that fits under 14s...

if its for track use, surely std wheels arnt all too good, maybe VTS wheels, seen them on a track car, they are 15's and can get most brake sets under them

you can get 266mm 206 gti brakes under 14s.
