Hi all

I have a problem with my exhaust and wondered if anybody could help me.

Basically, i was on my way home driving down the M25 when my car broke down, turns out my exhaust had sheared off and half of it was dragging on the floor.

The AA guy put a clamp in it and said that i needed i new mid section of the exhaust.

Thing is, i tool the damaged part off the sax last night and i think its only the Cat part thats damaged (this is what i need to know).

The manifold is definatly intact, then there is the faulty part, which i removed from the manifold. I still have the back box intact and the pipe that conects to the back box with, what i believe to be, the mid-silencer box on it.

The bit that i have removed is a small(ish) box with a small pipe connecting to this going from the mid-silencer to the manifold. Is this the cat that needs replacing?

Also, does anybody know if this (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260198637377) would fit in place of my current Cat? I have a 1.4 westcoast. I have asked him but he is unsure as he took it off a VTR.

Thanks

Adam

Is your saxo a mk1 or mk2.

If it's mk1 and the cat is in the centre section, by the sounds of it you would probably need a new cat. But if it's a mk2 and the cat is in the manifold you won't need a new cat unless you really did a lot of damage to the exhaust.

As for the piece of exhaust shown, it depends how much of your exhaust is off and what year yours and his saxo are.

1997 Mk1 Saxo. Basically the only bit that i took off last night was a very short length of tube under the car, which had a small(ish) size box on it (i believe that its the cat). The middle pipe with the middle silencer is still on it and the back box is still ok it just needs the small amount of pipe/cat that was removed.

Also, how would i tell if it had an OBD or not? I'm unsure of this as well :D

Also where about in Basildon are you?

I live in Stanford-le-hope but my gf lives right by the town centre in Bas, round there more often than not, although you wont see me in the sax at the moment as it off road (for obvious reasons).

Where abouts are you then?

i have emailed the bloke from the ebay page who says he thinks it'll fit my car but is not 100%, it apparantly gives a sportier tone although i do want to know if it is legal and will pass an MOT, as i cba to change it every year for MOT.

Anyone know if this will fit my car?

If not i think i'll just get one off that site, sounds good enough at just under £50. I was priced more than that at a breakers yard
