yes thats the bugger!!! is it not an oil cooler then ? i got told it was oops:

is that a citroen only part? and how much is it roughly?

i got told if these go, it can let oil into into the water system, giving the appearence of a head gasket failure!!

not sure if it is an oil cooler mate tbh

but all i know is it costs £281.72 with VAT which is ridiculous, you can get an oil cooler for much cheaper

It's not an oil cooler, it uses the coolant passing round the oil filter assembly to warm up the oil to working temperature quicker. Try and rob one from a scrappy, or find someone who is breaking a car. You could even take it off and re-seal it if it's leaking.

scrappys round here only have fords and rovers so im rite out of luck there, and if someone is breaking there car,i very much doubt they would sell that bit as it important to the engine.

if anyone hears of 1,or see's 1 in a scrappy near them, let me no as i wanna eliminate that as the problem

For a start common sense. Have you actually seen a proper oil cooler? And how would passing hot coolant round the oil filter keep the oil cool?

My common sense tells me that it's an oil cooler!!:P The coolant is relatively cooler than the oil that’s how it cools it!! Its just like a heat exchanger... the coolant passed through the engine and cools that, it also passes through the oil filter and cools the oil!

You're better off with it than without. Probably more effective and cheaper to get a separate one though. Just make sure you get a thermostat with it.

I doubt it will break... seems robust enough to me!

Mark-VTS, There is a Saxo in a scrappy near me, not sure if its a VTR or S. If you dont have any luck finding one drop a line on here and I`ll check it out.
