Simple IT MS Word issue

For some reason its started not allowing me to highlight stuff and either backspace to delete it, or typre something new and automatically delete what i highlighted. Doesnt sound much but im used to doing it and its kina annoying. Any ideas?

cheers mate, but had this problem for yonks now so its been reset many times. And its not the insert function already tried that, thats hwere it eats up what youve already typed, this just wont let me replace it :S. cheers though

Work in a school and never had this problem (lol) I'll ask tomorrow and try and see if any office bods know any fixes. :)

The document isn't protected is it? Not sure if that causes that kind of problem or not tho.

Apparently some add-ins can cause problems as with user privileges.
