ive searched and dont really have a definate answer for this, will hi spec 4 pots go under any 15s (with spacers)

i want 15s but bit im a bit worried about clearence issues, so be it if i have to get 16s though, although id rather have 15s :)

will i need to grind the caliper/carrier away??

im thinking of some ultraleggeras in 15s, anyone got hi psec brakes under 15s or ultras would be great??

yes, if you get the 285mm discs. some wheels will require spacers though. you thought about wilwoods?
not much point in 4 pots unless your using it on track imo.

Think Clouds were under 15" leggeras werent they?

Rushy has the willwoods under his leggeras too, think both brakes needed the leggeras to be spaced.

tbh i just want added safety with better brakes, everyone knows how crap the standards are, and i will end up making it a track car, im not selling it ever :p
and i also have plans for the car ;)

ive havent really looked at wilwoods but will now :y:

yeah a lot of people say you need spacers but will fit

standard brakes with good pads and fluid are pretty good and well balanced, they dont unbalance the car atall, if you get what i mean.
still, 4 pots give a lot better braking power though.

yeah a may aswell get 4pots tbh, for what im thinking of doing mate

they dont need grinding as are designed for the car.

they fit under lots of aftermarket wheels without spacers, std vt rims need spacers.

ive run TD and compomtive mos without any spacers.

leggeras as std irc only come in ford fitment anyway so need spacers anyway

im now getting team dynami pro race 1.2s, so they should be ok and im now thinking 16s, iknow people will say 15s are better but blow me :p

Ryan

15s 1.2s will fit over the brakes WITHOUT spacers, unless some tard sells you them in the wrong offset

easy tiger i edited it :p

must of done the edit whilst you were reading it :)

im gonna try my sisters alloys as there basically the same but ford fitment see if i get any rubbing will give me an idea, im not gonna drive it though ;)

just think 15s look a tad small and already got a pic of somebody down 60mm on 16s and looks like what im looking for :)

lol, ive got 283mm discs as mine are 2piece, but almost everyone with certain aftermarket wheels have fitted over the 285s ok.

the hispecs have dust seals which are good for road use, just be careful with the hose exiting the caliper.

Predator_R32
6th January 2008, 23:32
yeah ill get some braided hoses

do they help??

Ryan
6th January 2008, 23:37
nothing to do with braided hoses, you get them with the kit, its the way the hose leaves the caliper, the old type were to long and so touched the wheel, this touching turned into rubbing = brake failure. (berkshire vtr on ssc was an example)

Predator_R32
6th January 2008, 23:40
ahh yeah ya do i forgot, i know braided stop them flexing under hard braking

ill have to keep an eye on that when i get them then

could also consider compbrake .. they do a big brake kit for 15s. We've just set ourselves up as a supplier as their quickshifts are the new b&m's which have all sold out now

Ryan

compbrake have they changed the design so they have dust seals yet? and still using hawk pads only?

Ryan

just thought id emphasize it as alot of people have done it before when they heard about the rubbing problem

Predator_R32

ok the compbrake kits are very nice

tad expensive but get what you pay for i suppose :y:

I think cloud just had problems with the brake lines (Rubbing on the wheel), he was in contact with hi-spec and they got it sorted.

Predator_R32
7th January 2008, 19:44
ahhh so they might be sorted now, ryan was going on about the lines coming out at a certain angle that they rub, well hope they have sorted it now, ill find a way though :)

Ryan

the old 17.5 inch lines were the problem. the new 14.5 inch lines are easy to get at the correct angle avoiding the wheel.

as said if cloud had OZ wheels a large chance they were ford fitment, hence the need of spacers.

Redbullet - if you have COMPo's then they should cover many 4 pots without the need for spacers as they have a large dish on the inner face because they are a motorsport wheel
