fiesta zetec or saxo 1.4 furio ??

heya all

im caught between two cars ....

im looking to buy a first time car soon (Aprill) but im caught between two cars.

1) saxo 1.4 furio

OR

2) mk4 fiesta 1.4 zetec

i say this because i was in my m8ts 1.25 fiesta zetec today and its quite fast reali mostly always over 80 -90ish (mph) easy, but can a 1.4 saxo achieve this speed easy?

so i ask you ..... wot would you rather have? which is faster? which is best as a first car? easiers to modify? best after basic mods? (exhaust, manifold, induction)

Zetec S is better built imo and a nice car and i would rather have one over a 1.4

Why don't you look at a VTR? They can be found pretty cheap, usually cheaper than the furio. Between a vtr and zetec s would be hard i would think about the zetec s tbh won't be quite as fast to 60 as the zetec s but the zetec s will be the winner after 60 i would think.

Fiesta isnt build that much better than a Saxo tbh. Especially the Mk4. Mk6 maybe
better build quality.

Both cars wont have issues hitting that speed but rememeber they are small
hatchbacks with 5 speed boxes. So if your constantly doing them sort of speeds
I imagine you would be revving around 4000rpm and higher which wont be good
on fuel really.

I found the driving position better on the 106/saxo than the Fiesta. Interior
is more cheap and flimsy in the Fiesta. But exterior wise the Fiesta was that bit
better.

Good thing about the Fiestas too is that they dont have rear torsion bars like
the french tin cans do.

Well the Fiesta Zetec S is a bit bland imo, so compare that to a VTR (havent
driven any of the 1.4 models) and I would say the VTR is the more fun car to
drive.

The ZS is a better car overall though, only just.

and why not consider a VTR which isnt too bad on insurance - VTS will be higher on the insurance then a VTR

Zetec S...but VTS is faster, and mine looks stunning ;)

And Also Zetec S - 1,6 16v is a group 8 insurance
VTS is a Group 14

if you want a newer car then a fiesta would be a good bet, only thing that put me off one was that the ford has no foot rest next to the clutch and really wound me up :)

and dont get my wrong i love the saxo but today i was in my m8ts fiesta zetec and it did move quite fast, so just wandered whichi better ;)

my mate has the new 1.6 festa Zetec S model, is a nice ride, but IMO i dont think it sums up the fun ride of the saxo :y:

Both good cars, you just need to decide for the right reasons, insurance price etc

used to bug me stupid when i had my vts. about 3 vtr's in the 1 night challenged me at the lights and a few ztecs. get a saxo! only sayin this purley because i pretty much hate fiesta's of all shapes and sizes apart from the rs turbo's and i want another saxo :homme:

get the saxo, ive drove both and own a furio, plus mine will be for sale soon ;)

saxo is alot better to drive and is about same if not abit quicker than the fiesta, the saxo handles alot better and is cheaper to fix, tho the fiesta is built better on the outside.

buy a furio and u wont regret it ;)

Saxo any day of the week for my im currently driving a 51 reg 1.3 fiesta and tbh i hate it its slow handles bad and just generaly pref my saxo.

you dont need to go 80-90mph unless your on a straight at santa pod or on a track...not the public roads.

id go for a 1.4 saxo as i think its easier to modify, and i would think you would see better gains form you list (exhaust, manifold, induction etc)

i do like the Zetec S. The fact that its a ford though just makes me vomit. I had a ford once, and it was the worst car ever made.

Fiesta's are wank in my opinion. No matter what modifications you do to them, you can never make them look good. Pooop.

Now I have had a little play with a Zetec S in my car and until at least 60-65 there was nothing in it. Bare in mind my saxo has only got two bucket seats inside, not even that sometimes ;). Which makes it much lighter than a ZS.

I haven't driven a ZS though, but being a 1.6 16v after 60mph it will start to edge away from the sax 1.4 and 1.6 8v.
