Hi, im after some really grippy tyres which are also quite good in the wet.
My VTS just spins up in 1st, 2nd and even 3rd in these winter months with wet cold roads...
Anyone know what type to get?

ive got Toyo T1-S"s on my vtr and there great.
dont be so vicious with the clutch and you shouldnt have much problem in 2nd and third.

why turn a simple question about tyres into a slagging match over who can drive?
lame.

Toyos or eagle f1 tyres if on a budget, if not i would recommend some Pilot exaltos that are around £20 more per tyre worth the extra

Toyos have plenty of grip, but wear out quick because they are made out of a soft compound. On a budget, i would say avon zv3/zz3's, i think they are just as grippy as toyos but not as expensive.

The trick to driving in the wet is to be smooth with the throttle and steering, can spin the wheels on even the stickiest tyres if you are driving with the same restraint as Vannessa Felts in a sweety shop
My favs are Yoko 048Rs. Even the hard compound are very good in the wet. Especially if you get some heat into them.
Personally though on the road in poor conditions you are better off slowing down and actually getting to your destination. Seems fashionable to say the back end stepped (or the cat/fox excuse) not so easy to say "I failed to read the road conditions and drove into a ditch like a muppet."

I'd save your cash unless you need new tyres. I have toyos and without trying very hard can get even my lowly VTR to spin up its wheels. Its exactly as Kam says, if youre spinning wheels in 2nd and 3rd then it goes without saying you are at full throttle and most likely from a fast standing start as they dont just light up the wheels in 3rd once you are rolling. Not even the softest compound tyres you'll get will stop that and to be honest, theres not many tyres on the market that will produce 100% grip in our current winter conditions.

Continentals.

also i think everyone knows you drive like a dickhead obviously because you wheelspin in 3rd gear somehow and i hope thats only on dualcarriageways or somewhere safer than a 40 zone where somebody can cross the street, a VTS IN 3RD GEAR WILL DEFIENTLY BE DOING 70ish if your wheel spinning
rant over

you say you spun through 1st, 2nd and 3rd.
so i presume you dump the clutch and floor it through 1st, 2nd and 3rd. or you've got a super power saxo that just lights the wheels up at the touch of the throttle?

WAS JUST THINKING IT MUST BE SUPER POWERFUL??
MUST HAVE A ELECTIC SUPERCHARGER AND A BAD SET OF REMOULDS
YOKOYAMA I FIND THE BEST

:) rarely does it spin through 3rd, yeah it is a pretty powerful VTS to be honest and yes its only on the closed off road "drag strip" i am on about, only other times my wheels are spinning is now and again off the lights but only accidental...

i would say you have a heavey right foot. i could drive my cammed vts without it spining through 3rd gear.

Dont get yoko's! At least not these ones...http://www.japmobiles.com/articles/i/a539.jpg
They are sooo shit in the wet! Even my old khumo's were much better.
They are quite good in the dry though!

Its a diff that will make the most difference! I bet it only spins round corners! my VTS lights up in 4th round bends in the wet...
It's only one of your wheels that's spinning and no torques going to the other... get a quaife diff like what williams had in his nova and you will double your traction round the bends as it won't let you spin just one wheel you will have to spin both before they will spin...
And... FIVER!!:P
