Ok i had some idiot in a clio try to race me on a single carriageway road, tried to overtake and was oncoming traffic so he had to force his way, resulting in hitting me, spinning my car into a central reservation.

Anyway, the car has been classed a non-economical repair as a Cat-C. The damage is purely costmetic:

dents in door
dent in wing
cracked wing mirror
cracked bumper

So when i go to the buy the car back from the insurance, will i have to do something to it to have it legally put back on the road?

Some1 said something about taking it for a test at vosa or something, however its purely cosmetic damage and no mechanical or technical faults so im abit confused.

Any help appreciated!

youll have to get a VIC check to make sure its road worthy.

yes you will have to take it for a test at vosa as it has been classified as a write off.

i think the test is about £40 and you will have to wait about a month or 2 for your test depending on how busy your test centre is.

you will probably be there for about 45 minutes to an hour.

hope this helps.

ok cheers for the info,

So do the damages HAVE to be repaired to pass the VIC, or does it simply need to be road worthy, ie safe?

The vic check is an identity check,
as the car has been deemed a cat c there is a potential to ring the car
so they just need see it, as far as i know you would need to drive it there so it would have to be mot'd.
hope that helps
