View Full Version : Car does not like RAIN!

Whenever its damp or raining the car tries to cut out, but also when driving i it rains the car is fine under acceleration but if I sit at a constant it sort of dies then when I put my foot down again it surges with power.
My suspicions are an air intake sensor or lambda sensor problem
Anyone got any ideas about this ? It also tries to stall if I am stationary and sounds like its dying (best way to describe it is lumpy like when I had my VTR cammed without a remap if that helps)
Any help would be appreciated because I dont want to pay £60 per hour for auto electrician again,

Wrang Sovereign which is a Citroen dealer in Stafford to get a quote for new ht leads he VTS dont have HT leads apparently it has coil pack and ignition leads £110 ? if this is true would this still be the cause of the problem?

I forked out about that for a new coil pack at Citroen. Easy home job to fit too. Mine was a whole different problem though as 1/2 the pack had gone pop - was only firing on two!
The coil back does the High voltage distribution and supplies straight into the sparkies underneath.

Hmm.
I had a similar issue with my VTR. Basically on startup the revs would just
die and the car would cut out.
While driving it was fine but stand still it would idle really really badly.
Coilpack and some new plugs fixed the issue right away.
Regarding the HT leads, did you find out if the 1.6 16v model had them or not
Bloz mate? Rockers are sold now matey btw. Sos :(

They have coil pack ignition leads what ever the difference is, Ive ordered some uprated ones and a 2nd hand coil pack, I have new Bosch spark plugs and a new idle position sensor on order as soon as they all come I gonna fit them one weekend and then drive through a puddle to see if its fixed.
Ill keep you posted, at the moment I just tryin avoid rain or puddles lol which is very difficult atm

Thought I had this solved I sealed the Crank shaft sensor seemed to be better and then started plauying up again,
Just cant see how it can be coil pack when its so high up in the car

I had exactly the same problem for a while, but mine has been running fine since??? i think its the fuel pump tbh, when i hit a puddle or it rains hard mine cuts out to then when i try and start it the fuel pump does not prime for a while then it starts working again :). thats my thoughts
