who wins and why?

hoping to get a new car in maybe may...was hoping to get an Ek9 but i have looked at insurance for it and nobody wants to give me any.

so we are looking at the newer typeR's and the current st.

thenks.

Tupps
10th January 2008, 13:19
Civic....Because theyre faster

MAS
10th January 2008, 13:20
mate i dont know exactly why but i remember me bros mate race a ford fiesta st on the m42 me bros mates civic type r is standard other than the induction kit i think and the dudes fiesta was slighty chipped (ecu) but the civic type r took him !

Certi
10th January 2008, 13:21
By newer Type R do you mean the EP3 or FN2?

I'm obviously biased but I'd say the Type R. Its great fun to drive, it'll run forever if looked after and its pretty quick as standard.

The Fiesta ST looks good, but I dont think they are very quick and I doubt they will be as reliable. Probably alot easier to insure though.

Tupps
10th January 2008, 13:23
Fiesta ST's are seriously under powered

David
10th January 2008, 13:25
Fiesta ST's are seriously under powered

Didn't you beat one when you had the S?

Jacko
10th January 2008, 13:26
sorry, the ep3.

SaxoAL
10th January 2008, 13:26
Why not focus ST? Much quicker than a fiesta, and shape up to the Civic far better aswell.

Karl
10th January 2008, 13:27
Fiesta STs are terribly underpowered,
or atleast...not as good as the other 2.0 hot hatches on the market.
CTR for me.

PRICEY-VTS
10th January 2008, 13:28
ep3 ctr all the way mate just got mine pulls in every gear better looks than the st asswell and a lot more power

VTR_Nick
10th January 2008, 13:30
civic because there faster, quicker, prob have better handling and are probably more reliable as there jap :y:

Also: Not really in the same leage, fiesta is insurance group 13 while civic is insurance group 17 i belive. so slight difference lol

Karl
10th January 2008, 13:31
The only thing thats better on the ST is the lower insurance group.

Tupps
10th January 2008, 13:32
Didn't you beat one when you had the S?

Beat one several times to 60 then the ST picks up the power after that

They have decent interior but not worth the money at all

Jacko
10th January 2008, 13:33
focus isnt really me.

seems the fiestas are poop then, trying to blag a wee drive in friend of a firens one.

dont know any body with an ep3 so testing that might be tough.

Karl
10th January 2008, 13:34
Fiesta will lose value quicker than the CTR also, as theirs a new Fezzy scheduled for '09

Scattle
10th January 2008, 13:34
Civic.

Matthew1684
10th January 2008, 13:35
If it were me and i had a choice between the two i would get an EP3 type r. Lovely looking, great drive and that all important jap reliability. No contest for me... but thats just my opinion!

chrichvtr
10th January 2008, 13:41
civic it revs all day long!!!!!!

0-60mph in 6.6secs 0-100mph in 16secs Top Speed 147mph (civic)

It develops its 148bhp at 6000rpm and 140lb ft of torque at 4500rpm, and is coupled to a close-ratio five-speed gearbox with a short-shift mechanism. At 1137kg the Fiesta is no flyweight but manages a useful power-to-weight ratio of 132bhp per ton, and Ford claims a 129mph maximum and 0 to 60mph time of 7.9sec. (fiesta st)

although a lot of sites seem to differ in the power of each car

Tupps
10th January 2008, 13:43
Mine would put up a decent fight with a tyre R then....

0-60 in 6.8 standard (iirc) and top speed of 152mph

Jacko
10th January 2008, 13:46
seems the EP3 owns the fiesta now tbh.

Jagztorious
10th January 2008, 13:49
Ford focus ST is better then both. Looks soooo much nicer. and will kill a civic

Jacko
10th January 2008, 13:58
dont want a focus.

Tupps
10th January 2008, 14:01
I'd much prefer the Civic mate

kcsaxo
10th January 2008, 14:29

Fiesta will lose value quicker than the CTR also, as theirs a new Fezzy scheduled for '09

how do you work that one out???

'05 fiesta st's still go for around £8k

'05 civic type r's are going for around £13k

fiestas started off around £13k and civics like £18k

so they seem to be decreasing at the same rate!

Krys_23

^^^ that was a bit rash!! lol

fords have character unlike jap scrap.....and as much as i love my french cars, dont get me started on how crap they are build quality wise lol

all i can say is this!!

http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o166/JohnMaxwell1986/dsc00211.jpg

and it will smoke 99% of any v-tecs that comes near it!

Thats rank.. hate fords,

well even if it isnt to your taste....you would never see it...because it would be either too far ahead of you, that you wudnt see it....or it would be bulldozing you up the road lol

Certi
10th January 2008, 22:22
A 05 CTR would cost no more than £16k brand new, not £18k.

EDIT: Also it's hardly fair to talk about how that Fiesta would skin a VTEC because its obviously not standard. I'll bet theres plenty of modded Type Rs that are quicker.

Krys_23

A 05 CTR would cost no more than £16k brand new, not £18k. And I'll bet theres a fair few VTECs out there that would hump that Fiesta up and down the place, not standard of course but neither is that ;)

well it was pulling at least 10 car lengths on a grey type r with a full exhaust system, v tec controller and an aem filter...down a motorway near me!

think thats pretty impressive for an oul wanked out ford :P

My days check this out

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/292886.htm

Certi
10th January 2008, 22:26
Not really as I'll bet its had a fair few mods done to it if the intercooler is anything to go by. A full exhaust and AEM will add approx 3-4bhp and the VTEC controller will do pretty much nothing tbh so not the best spec for a Type R.

Krys_23

Civic without a doubt.

Even if it was between that and a focus i'd still have the civic, because the Honda will always be more reliable.

Maxwell
10th January 2008, 22:30
well much of a muchness...i hate v-tecs, and i know this fiesta pisses over lightly modded ep3's.

though theres only 1 turboed ep3 here, and it wipes the floor of nearly anything that touches it!!

the same fiesta, before it got the 1.8 zetec bottom end, the cossie t3 and fancy internal stuff, was 160bhp on cvh bottom end, and it sat with a 280bhp 2wd sierra cossie!

Jacko
10th January 2008, 22:31
that civic is mint. astras arnt my thing.

see being honest....over in northern ireland, 200sx's/silvia S14's have became a big hit!! cheap to insure and buy, and 204bhp on tap!!

plus takes next to nothing, to see them at 250 - 300bhp

i got quoted more to renew my old 1.1 sax than my current vtr....

it was in the region of £1300 for the 1.1, i pay £1000 for the vts which i found strange...

if your willing to fork out the cash...then good luck....you will need it
