people, can you get that nice deep sound from the exhaust with a 1.1 engine?

my bro had a very nice deep sound on Golf mk3, with cat removed, and he only put the last silencer (or muffler, like it says in nfs7)

depends on which system you get mate.
off the shelf systems are quite good eg magnex, scorpion ashley etc.
but you can have a one tailor made from a few places, POWERFLOW are really good, you can have a stainless steel system made up with only a small box at the back which would give you a loud deep note cost about 250 - 300 quid.
removing the cat sometimes gives your car a raspy sound.

now i dont understand, do you mean the whole exhaust, from the engine all the way back, or only the last silencer?

can you get it with only the silencer?
do you have to remove the cat?

i had a powerflow system with one tiny box at the back and no cat on my escort and it sounded like a rally car, used to burble and spit flames out the back and backfire when you were slowing down or really pushing it hard.
was a nightmare at 80mph on the motorway though.

i dont want to go to extremes, just make my sax sound nice....

you can get anything you want. its best to keep the cat to pass your MOT, you can then get a system from your cat all the way back. instead of having 2 boxes, you can just have 1 small box at the rear and any tail pipe or tailpipes you want, in any style 2 smileys/smiley4.gif

if you get a tailor made one you can explain to the guys making it what you want it to sound like, they will have an idea of what to do to get the note you want.

you mean, only the pipe and back box? no mid box?

oh, yeah, and... can i do it in a way that when i need to get my car insured, i can put it all back on, so i pass the technical exam?

if you dont want the hassle you can get a magnex system or what ever you choose, fit it and away you go. you will have a exhaust the same as many other people.
if you want to be individual and have something that stands out, go for the tailor made system. smileys/smiley2.gif
most stainless steel systems come with lifetime cover and are roughly the same price smileys/smiley17.gif

a back box would be ideal if you are worried about your insurance. it just bolts on and can be removed and replaced with your standard 1 in no time at all, would still sound good. smileys/smiley2.gif
i agree with danvtr, powerflow back boxes sound good smileys/smiley4.gif

ok...

i think i'll go for the back box only, and remove the cat (it will cost me around 50 quid, and i'm a student, so i dont have some money source)

mr saxo
go for the custom system from powerflow with a small box at the back, should sound good. you can allways get a de cat pipe and only put your cat back on for the mot smileys/smiley2.gif smileys/smiley4.gif

What is this cat thingy and where is it located -- lol. A trip down to BAT motors is needed me thinks for a custom system smileys/smiley17.gif

cat is the first box on the way from the engine to back of the car, following the exhaust pipe.

de cat pipe is a straight through pipe that replaces your catalytic convertor, just a pipe with nothing in.
