Wheel refurbishment complete (post #19)

Hey, after opinions here.

You can see the wheels on my car in the thread linked in my sig. Thing is, one of them is now fecked with kurbing, and I need 4 new tyres. So I thought I'd get the front two refurbished, since then I'd have 2 that matched to go on one side, and the other 2 (currently my back ones) can on on the other side, since they still look good.

It's 290 for the tyres on all 4, centre caps sprayed on all 4, and 2 fully refurbished.

However, for an extra 100, I can get all 4 fully refurbished. That's a little price to pay on top of 290 really. The 2 other wheels in question have slight kurbing, discolouring and marks, but won't benefit as much as the other 2 would from a refurb. That being said... it's very temping.

But you must bear in mind that whilst I can just about afford it, would this 100 be better spent elsewhere, even if's elsewhere on the car?

And then, if I am getting all four done, do I keep them white? Or change? Oh yeah, and they will be putting new stickers on the ones they refurbish too!

So many options!!!

I would deffo get them all dont mate. They will all be like brand new.
If you are getting them done at the place i said they sandblast them and fill and marks then powdercoat them.

well aparently that's how they do them, I didn't ask personally though!

I must say they really impressed me. Only thing that struck me was the matt black wheel they had on display, didn't look a very good finish, was a bit bobbly. But the gloss white was spot on!

stay with the white as it stand's out on your saxo colour more and get all four done.

This morning I went down, and they took off my alloys and put my steelies on.

I have to say, they might not be lookers, but the car is so much better with the steelies :n: ... It's quieter, smoother, faster and handles far far better. Ah well, can't have everything I guess!

Saying that, I really can't wait to get my alloys back, will look really smart. Car is super low now though lol, BRRRRAP!

Was thinking I should buy some brand new wheel bolts for them, anyone know where I could get some, not online? Only need 8 lol, coz the locking wheel nuts still look like new and the wheels are 3 stud ha ha

Well, it depends really. They will be ready tomorrow, but if the stickers and centre caps (decided to buy new ones... 20 quid for 4, cheaper than I expected tbh) from Compomotive ain't arrived by then I'll be waiting a bit longer!

Well the front is down 50mm but the back has gone a bit lower I think, probably 55 - 60 ish. Only think this because I thought the back is normally a little higher than the front, yet my car is parallel with ground

Checked my hall's post and my stuff from Compomotive have come, so I'm getting the wheels back tomorrow! Cannae wait!

To put the quality of this company into context, they apologised for the 'crap' job they did at putting on the stickers and refunded me the 10r I paid Compomotive for them. Here is a pic of the worse one:

I am so overjoyed with them. Even the tyres... they said they were putting on Yokos.. I assumed some lower spec ones. But no sir, very latest S-Drive tyres! Thanks!

Not sure about taking off the stickers... tbh I like them, I know they are slight impections on otherwise immaculate wheels but I just don't think they'd be the same without them!

It's powder coated with heavy, UV-filtering laquer on top... so technically shouldn't fade. Aparently dirt just won't stick to either, he showed me with his car, covered in brake dust, and it just hosed off! Combined with some quality sealant, I'm thinking they could stay white for a long time lol

Well just the wheels was 200 altogether, so 50 quid each. That included stripping the tyres and refitting with new valves and balanced.

Hmm I might come the next meet or something. Only thing is I'm not completely happy with the car yet, various little things, and I think a flat arch has to be absolutely immaculate to look even half-decent next to a load of VTR/Ss!
