Hey people.
Been a part of the site for a while now, and its now made the jump to my homepage, so i guess its time to start a progress thread. Please be patient as a lack of funds are slowing it down for the time being.

Back about this time last year i purchased a Mk1 Nreg 1.4 Vsx. I was just starting to learn to drive and this car lept out at me. (Probly because it wasnt the 1.1 cars we were looking at before) And with only 64k on the clock it found its way onto my drive the same day.

I recently passed my test at the begining of december (First time ;) ) And now the modifiing has begun. I turned 18 just before x-mas and im now coming up to owning the car a year. a years ncb cant be a bad thing.

Time for some pics then:

When i got her ( With a plate like that it deserves to be modified)

Then i went about debadging the rear. And im now left with some holes (:rage: )

Saturday me and the father fitted my new stereo and speakers.
Alpine headunit - JBL Amp bridged to power the infinity sub box - alpine amp - fli comp 5's in the door cards. and an additonal ipod cable going to the glove box.
*THE BOOT WILL NOT BE STAYING LIKE THAT.* Ive got a leather beauty board to go over the jbl amp and the alpine amp will either be mounted on the left side or behind the rear seats. I'm also going to cover the sub box in leather and join all gaps between that and the amp board, so it'll be flush. ;)

Also got to fit these as my current ones are sqealing so bad.

Ok currents plans are:

Fit VT kit (only need front bumper and n/s wing)
Lower 45 / 50
Fit some black VTR Rims
Black Angels
Get the boot holes smoothed and black bit sprayed
Get all bump strips colour coded before vt kit is fitted.
Cat back exhaust
Dewiper

If i can get that done soonish ill be happy. Then ive got alot more plans :p
i.e. Leather interior, strutbraces, manifold, general smoothing

Well thats a start to my progress thread. thanks for reading. Hopefully some updates will follow soon.

Nice choice of headunit mate. Get the amps hidden away/covered and secured downso they dont fly around in the boot!
Plans sound good - but you might need 4 stud hubs for vtr wheels - unless you have one of the rare mk1 1.1's which is already a 4 stud!

Nice one mate. However, you know it makes sence to strip her out ;). Then the VSX turns into a right little beast... GROWL

Dont say that. i keep straying down that path. dont know if i should.
Probely would of if i didnt buy the sound system. Going to try and make this a nice all round car, then going to make a serious decision this time next year.

UPDATE

Drove home today with a terrible rattling coming from the rear. The back box had snapped off the exhaust and was being held be the hangers. :rage:
Got it off in the pitch black and dad has welded it back on. But judgnig by the state of it, it wont last too long.
So i now need to buy an exhaust, but i dont want to fit one till i get the vt kit on, because it has a hole cut out for an exhaust and it'll look 100X better.

So i need to get the rest of the vt kit, spray it and put it on.
Turning into a money pit now. Where do you guys get your money from? Im a college student and work 3 days a week. but ive got to pay for everything including a holiday in april. how am i going to do this.

New Chapter: Decisions Decisions?

Torn betwen two routes now people.
Firstly do i:

Keep my car as a car, with a half leather interior, keep the sound system, subtle engine mods, and the vt kit.

OR DO I:
Strip the car, two buckets, big cage, alot of engine and chassis work, and take it to track days?

Soo torn between them, want to strip it but dont want to of fitted the sound system for nothing. But to be fair at some point it will be tracked just a case of cutting my losses and saving some money by doing it sooner rather than later. Either way i will not be selling this car for a long time. And the vt kit has to go on before i make any desicions.

Please help

leave it with the trim :afro:

MR_N

Guess that might have to be the plan, re trim the seats, nice inside. a few engine mods (filter / exhaust / manifold). And take it along to the fc show as a VT? (hence the vsx start in life)
Told the other half to slap me in the face if i mention about stripping it. Got a good mate who does engine swaps in minis, he said he'll help me build a track car. Basically weve chucked some ideas about and expect a progress thread coming up for a 2.2ltr vauxhall powered mini (he has one and he'll do the transplant in one again if i source the car / engine)
