I’ve finally landed a VTS
I’ve owned 2 VTR's, a Pug 106 and a fantastic Austin Metro and now it was time for something a little bit faster. Having planned to buy a house this year and there was too many dents in the 8v VTR it was time for a small upgrade. Something that’s wallet friendly, something I could put my energy into over the summer and a 16v engine to play around with. So armed with a small amount of cash I found a great little VTS that I could tweak and polish over the first two years of struggle with my first house. So ill be slowly changing this car into something a little different and hopefully something that will last me at least two years!
The VTS Spec:
Citroen Saxo VTS (2000)
Wicked red colour
Clock 49000
Interior & exterior:
VTS wheels refurbed in matt black
Black Angel eyes headlights
Mark 1 rear lights
Lowered 40mm and back to match
Smoked side repeaters
Black tailgate badges
Performance:
B&M Quick shift
Omp top and bottom braces
BMC CDA Induction kit
Full magnex system – Magnex decat
So what do you guys think?

French plates & a clean
Been a while since I’ve updated the thread, well actually this is the first update. Over the last two months I haven’t really changed much of the car all I’ve done is cleaned it once a week and began to slowly get it up to clean car I have today. I colour coded my grill in the first month, got rid of the plastic inside the grill and had the Citroen badge in matt black to match the wheels. Fitted some new look wipers and sprayed up the old wiper arms. I ordered French pressed plates also without the surrounds, complete with stick on pads. Gave it a good clean and this is how the Saxo stands today.
Planning on:
White gloss VTS Refurbed wheels
A suspension kit upgrade and lower the front and back alittle more
A general tidy up of the bodywork and to flush the locks off
Taking the angel lights off and having some black standards on with HID's
Smoking the front fogs to match the front headlights

Let me know what you think?

Hehe, I knew it was only a matter of time before I started having the car compared to the famous Suki. I had white gloss wheels on my vtr and just loved them so want them with the vts. Nice having your pictures still up because I get to see the car what it looks like before I pay out the money.
Was speaking to the lads tonight, I rekon im going to order some 60mm springs, and have the torsion bar lowered this weekend. With the white gloss rims and the car sitting low should look really smart. Dont mind having the car low will stop my heavy foot on the pedal because I wouldnt want to scrape my exhaust. Ill pop more pictures up in a few weeks when the works been carried out! :y:

Suspension upgrade, good or bad?
Well I was toying around with the idea of a 60mm drop to make the car bit more slick. I don’t really drive all that fast anyway so thought 60mm drop would suit me right down to the ground. Plan was to just get some lowering spring and drop it 60 but having read some of the threads on here I was left thinking I shouldn’t. I read for around a hour and thought it was best to upgrade the struts as well as the springs and the back too. Working on a budget, I picked out a Spax set up. I read that It won a award in its class, and as I’ve had Spax springs before I was pleased with them so thought a suspension package wouldn’t be too bad. Didn’t want anything too serious as I wouldn’t be driving the car that quick or need something that hot and expenses. So with a idea in my head what I wanted to spend I ordered the:
Spax VSX Sports Kit 60mm
http://www.spax-suspension.co.uk/images/spax/Spax-VSX-moneyoff-95x95.jpg
What you guys reckon? Cost me £190.00 with delivery, thought it wasn’t a bad price for what I was getting. Herd some bad words against some of the spax range but are they really that bad? Cant see them being soo bad my car would be worse off than keeping the standards on and dropping it 60mm???Would love some comments, bad or good welcome!

Tinted the fog lights
Today I decided to smoke the fog lights. I removed them (3 bolts in each corner of the fog) from the car. With a 10mm socket, was hard to reach under the car but if you use a long extension its so simple and hassle free.
http://img150.imageshack.us/img150/3338/spa0360ex6.jpg
I simply then put then stripped the fog lights of all the bits I could do by hand or screwdriver. I then put the glass and plastic housing that were left in the oven at around 160 for 15 min. By then the glue was just right for pulling apart with my hands and a small knife. I preferred to have the glue loosen slightly rather than letting it totally melt and drip everywhere. A bit of elbow grease and the glass and plastic where separated.
http://img150.imageshack.us/img150/8985/spa0381eq4.jpg
After I rubbed the shinny part of the plastic casing down with some fine sandpaper just to rough it up slightly and sprayed them up with plastic black spray paint which can be brought from any hardware shop or Halfords if you liked to be ripped off. Personally before I rubbed everything down I cut out and sanded down the outer edges to get all the old glue out. People usually reheat the parts and use the old glue. I don’t do that because I think you never get the exact fit because you can never compress the old glue down enough to get the best flush fit. While I left them to dry I washed the glass lenses very well and got any built up dirt and old glue than was inside or outside of the glass. Used hot soapy water and dried so that the insides were smear free.
http://img259.imageshack.us/img259/2442/spa0378pt0.jpg
I then layered some new glue inside the plastic drain situated on the outskirts of the plastic casing and wedged the glass back onto the plastic casing. Pressed down firmly until the glue had set enough for me to tie some strong cloth around the outside to hold the join firm. Left the fog lights for a while until the glue went hard. I then rubbed a small layer of clear mastic around the join so it sealed it totally, this should stop condensation that’s so annoying.
http://img253.imageshack.us/img253/6430/spa0379xa5.jpg
I then took them back to the car, 3 bolts went back in place and twisted the fog light bulbs back into place. So simple to do, no expensive and makes a big difference to the cars front.

OOOh you got them done then :P
Will look good once back in the car!
Have you asked willsy about the torsion bar?
jimbo232
5th April 2008, 17:24
Nope not yet, my dad said he knows a guy who will fit the whole new suspension kit I got and lower the torsion bar free of charge as he owes my dad a favour! He got his own garage and does a top job as my dad knows his stuff, so all going to be goooooood! Cant wait! :)

I finally got round to fitting the Spax kit I brought a few weeks ago. Spent all Saturday fitting the front shocks and springs, and rears. Took my time at it, few hard bolts to come off but got there in the end. Then I found a guy to lower the torsion bar for me. He did it for me there and then and took around 130 min. Lowered it for me and was nice to get low with no rubbing. I know many people dont really like the low look but I think its quiet nice and still drives great, no rubbing and just looks alot more slick on the road. Heres a few pictures I took off my phone today, please excuse the pictures, I need to get a new digial camera!

jimbo232
21st April 2008, 17:24
Not to sure because when I drove out it was around 70 and now its dropped more as its been driven around. Really happy though, dont rub or anything and in my opinion with the new spax setup it handles amazingly, so much grip around the corners with no roll.
jimbo232

Also the shocks seem to let you feel every bit of road, but also they take the bounce and shock away from you which means less of the annoying creaks and cracks from the saxo. So happy with the result.
