I'm wantin to mod my 1.1 and i've seen some cosmic racing speaker boxes and a sub, i know there a bit crap but wondered if any 1 knew whether i'd need an amp to power it all.

you definitely need an amp to power a sub, but cant you go for something else than this?

Thing is i've got a jvc kd g-801 head unit and its already got a cable coming out for a sub, do i still need an amp?

Scott

yes the cable coming off your headunit is only low voltage it wont do anything if you connect it to the sub. that lead carries the signal to be amplified to the amp

yes you still will need one.
That is a sub out..the others are audio outs
If you have a sub with a built in amp on it, then it is best to run it off the sub out.
If the amp is separate from the sub, the run it off an audio output.

why alex? same thing as running it off an external amp, the sub out is mono and can be controlled from the headunit so is perfect for the sub even if its not got a built in amp

I was told when I had my JBL bass tube (built in amp) installed on my old pug a couple of years ago that the sound would be better if I ran it off that, rather than the audio out??

Scott

yes it would be better to run it off the sub out, but its the same in both situations
