Bored of my orignal gear knob want to change it

That knob you got is a right bastard to get off. Seriously, it's almost impossible.

It does just literally pull off... eventually. I found my gear stick would just pop out the socket under the car so I needed someone to hold the stick down while I pull on the gear knob. Then I finally got it off with cut fingers an stuff coz was using the end of a hammer.

If I were you, you cud just lift the bottom of the rubber up over the knob, and saw the lever below the knob, and then straighten the gear lever using tools and brute force (the gear lever has a bend in it to angle the top towards the driver)!

In hindsight, I wish I did that... because I went on to straighten the shaft and shorten it... so pulling the gear knob off was a waste of time!

angle grinder to remove the knob. then fit the new one as said above ;)

An even easier way, and the fact that this isn't a joke shows how hard it is lol, might be to remove the whole gear lever with the original gearstick on (use haynes) and replace it with one from a vtr or other higher spec model that actually has a proper knob and gaiter
