Was talking to someone at work last night who works for the Police. She was telling me about how she got caught usign her mobile phone (on speakerphone). So she got the 3 points and fine etc.

However....someone she works with said that she was very lucky as she could of been arrested and had her car impounded and phone for people using them. So beaware! :panic:

She must be fairly gullible seeing as the roadside charge is £60 and 3 points. Obviously, the definitions of driving with a mobile phone are not exhaustive and can easily veer into driving without due care and attention. You cannot have your car impounded or be arrested for using a mobile.

speakerphone would require you to "accept" the call by clicking a button on the phone. Thus not being "hands free"

thats true also.

I'll be honest before the 3 points thing was introduced i used to drive around with a mobile pretty much planted to my face, ringing home, gf, mates, porno lines etc etc

so i read up about the law regarding it. they'll pretty much arse you if you use a mobile phone in a car moving or not, unless engine is off. technically, you can be driving turn the engine off and coast it and make a telephone call and be ok.

To be honest, I was like you Sayer with the phone all the time but I tend to put it in between my legs on the seat, loudspeaker on and use it now.
