I've been wondering what people prefer.
Please write why did you pick that specific HU.

i own a jvc, got it for an ok price, and had no problems since, only minor, repaired it myself...

i'm looking for a new HU now, but i'll probably go for the Pioneer DEH-P77MP

an excellent pioneer unit, i voted alpine because i simply dont think there is much to touch them (without moving onto the likes of becker and nakamitchi(sp))and i now own a pioneer unit flip out screen, but before i had the alpine 9812rb and it was absolutely awesome and i would have got the alpine screen if it was a face off.

But that pioneer is a very very good unit and most car audio buffs would agree

im only afraid what will happen if i connect it to an amp that has a 4v input (this HU has 6v preout)

wouldnt worry about it never heard of anyone having any problems and the larger signal from the head unit should do more good than harm

kenwood

yeah, but wouldnt it force the amp into clipping? i mean, 6v sine wave into a 4v amp input? it means that 1v on each side is over the top, so it would be almost rectangular.
wouldnt that damage my speakers?

no it shouldnt, i see exactly where you are coming from, normally the ratings on the input are only there as a minimum to get the stated results from the amp, the same as an amps out put will be given at say 12v, 13v and 14.4v but you can go over these and get better results.

Unless your amp is specifically only designed to run 4v inputs which would be the first i have heard of?

so there will still be low (or none) distortion on 6v input?

Scott

its a stronger cleaner signal so distortion will be mimimised from that point of view

Alpine - just fitted the CDE-9828RB. Class unit, very good looking & sounds great with Infinity speakers.

let me ask you about sony:

do you have problems with their HU's in UK?
here in croatia are problems with sony HU's very often:
sound is very low quality (compared to other HU's)(the bass is very very low, this guy had to turn up the bass to maximum, to had the same bass level like on pioneer when turned down to minimum), FM modulators burn up frequently...

its not the best stuff here either without wanting to upset people who have sony car audio smileys/smiley17.gif
