tough sh*t. If you've booked it off, you've booked it off. Full stop. That what I'd say.
Unless they offer you double time (or extra hol day) for your troubles.
Unless you have made prior arrangements for 2moro?

if you haven't had written confirmation, then I'm afraid theres not alot you can do. If it was just word of mouth, it would be moral/immoral of the boss(es) if they did/didn't allow you to have the day off.
Do they know its for a hospital appointment, and forgive me for being nosey, is it an important hospital appointment?
laura_g
29th January 2008, 15:42
yep it is important i just wont turn up to work if i get the sack i get the sack im not even bothered lol
Hanuman
29th January 2008, 15:42
mental we want foreighners to come take our jobs, and also ship the other half off to their countries, no more said on that matter as it will no doubt go along the lines of banned.

if its a hosp app you need sit down and talk to them explain you WILL be taking emergency time off ( i think every company in the uk has to allow that) they cant ask specically what its for state its emergency time off for a hosp appointment you need and cant get out off. if they sacked you for that they would easilyyyy be in the wrong
SaxoAL
29th January 2008, 15:44
I'd explain to the boss that it is an important appointment, and make sure they have cover (even in form of a temp) as you HAVE to make that appointment. I doubt very much they would argue it to be honest Laura.

29th January 2008, 16:59
I would just take the day off tbh, tell them you can't come in as its a hospital appointment they shouldn't say anything about it as appointments are hard to get at the hospital, its not like you will get another one in a couple of days you could end up waiting months for another 1 :p
Lee_P

They have to honour hospital appointments by law so even if you go and they sack you then you'd have a good case for unfair dismissal
Do they know this appointment is for the hospital cos if not then that will be why they haven't honoured it.
