my mate is in need of a new turbo and he dosnt know the size of the turbo on his punto GT
anyone help out?
i dont know, tried googling it but nothing, he isnt a car buff lol

is he fitting a bigger turbo or slapping a new standard one on? the gt uses a IHI VL7 as standard

what would be an ok upgrade for him, without having to do loads of shit lol
the seals are gone on his.
dosnt want to fork out for a brand spanker, must be something that he can use of another car that is a tad better ;)
i was going to flog him a T25 but wasnt sure if it would fit, read somewhere that it would be really laggy and not come on full boost until 4krpm.
he wont like that lol

go onto punto sports and put a thread up on there, they have tried and tested different turbos with different compressor trims etc.. so will be able to give u a better list of whats what and which ones boost at what rev range etc... iirc back in the days when i had a gt some lads off the forum where using T25's off 200sx's but dont hold me to it

Did a little search on PSC and this info might help ya:

Turbo Technics do a stage 1 and 2 for the punto. Stage 1 is good for up to 180bhp but works perfectly well with the standard engine. Stage 2 is good from180 to 250 bhp, please call for further details.

The stage 1 is a Garrett replacement for the VL7. It has a larger compressor wheel than standard ( T2 60 trim ) with the compressor housing machined out to suit. It has a T2 turbine assembly, a 360 degree thrust bearing screwed down, uprated actuator, high flow turbine and also comes with new oil feed and drain pipes. Runs 10 - 22 psi and is high speed balanced,
the price of this is 525+VAT on an exchange basis for your old unit.
The stage 2 is a Garrett T25 Turbo which has T25 60 trim compressor wheel, high flow turbine, 360 degree thrust bearing screwed down, uprated actuator, T25 turbine housing, runs 15 - 28 psi, will have to be running a minimum of 180 bhp to get it to spool up correctly, with a max bhp of 250.
Also comes with new oil feed and drain pipes and is high speed balanced.
The price of this is 645+VAT on an exchange basis for your old unit.
