Lads and ladies,

Just thought i would say I am now a happy owner of a 106 VTR. ;)

The engine conversion only took about 4 hours from start to finish. Loom plugged into the existing 106 loom no problems everything works fine.

All that was needed was the VTR Loom, ECU, Chipp'ed Key, Transponder box, and lump.

I thought i would put another rumour to bed as well. A pug 1.1 gear box on a VTR will not blow up after driving it hard. I have had mine in for a while now, and there is no sign of it going bang at all.

It actually makes for awsum acceleration. I will post pictures later of the process. I am one extremely happy owner.

Details are as below

Saxo VTR 1.6 8v from a WK03 car with a 3 plug Bosch M7.4.4 ecu
replaced a
Pug 1.1 TU1JP 8v engine from a Y reg car also with a 3plug Bosch M7.4.4 ecu.

never heard of this 1.1 box will blow up rumor. especially on here. I quarantee after a while of pushing it hard the syncros will go though :homme:

hows the vtr power then?

will accelerate better with a 1.1 box but top end on motorways will rev around an extra 1.5k i think it is iirc so shite for fuel on long journeys. The best box for a vtr is a vtr box in all honestly.

Whilst I dont doubt your experience like you said, it all depends if you beat it around. If you have a bit of respect for it, im sure it will last a lot lot longer.

Bear in mind that whilst the final drive is a lot higher the ratios in 3,4,5 are extactly the same as the VTR box. (I stand corrected if anyone finds any proof this is different)

The power of the engine being one of the last that was made for the VTR, it is amazing and a lot better than what I had in the car before hand.

Yes I agree with you motorways arnt going to be the best for this car, however after having a small engine that was always revvy anyway, there is not *that* much difference.

As for fuel its not that much different from driving my smaller tuned engine around.

Theres a search function at the top of the page. Likley best to head to the engine/transmission forums and the progress thread forum.
