Do I sell my VTS, to upgrade to my dream car, Subaru Impreza?? I'm torn between the two. I've not long bought a 4-2-1 manifold, de-cat and cams (complete with followers n belt) all of which cost near 700 quid, though I aint got round to fitted none on, but suddenly I'm having second thoughts about piling loads of money into my saxo and not getting an awful lot of a power gain for the money. Plus, I'm never gonna get my money back should I sell it after its all on. So I'm debating on selling it all instead and buying a scooby, or at least something quicker than a VTS.. Should I or shouldn't I, I'm torn...

Simple sell the parts youve bought, you will make the money back. Sell the saxo, if you had cammed it you would not have made the money back. Then buy your dream car.

depends on if you are rich enough to insure a scooby, fill it up every week easily and repair it anytime really.

if you can afford it, dont see why not tbh

Well I aint exactly rich or nothing, but have decent enough job, and still live with my old man (sad, I no) So I could afford it, only thing that worries me is the repair n maintenance bills.. Doesnt have be a scooby I guess, just want something a bit quicker, any suggestions?

Dunno tbh, a cammed VTS if set up properly is going to be pretty quick.

There's not much others can say to give you a valid answer. It's down to you, if you can afford it and not live like in the gutter as a result, then there's no reason for you not to.

Well I would really love one, but I'd be gutted if after I'd got one, I couldn't actually afford to keep it, or worse still, something major go wrong..

id keep the saxo and put all your new parts into it, then youll feel alot more power..
not as much as a scooby, but a very quick small car at least.

yeah realistically a fast saxo would be better really

get the vts closest to standard as you can (without spending too much money) becuase u'll proboys get more money for it that way.... then sell up and go for it . Treat yourself

Why not give the Scoob a go? There's nothing to stop you going back to VT* if you decide it's not for you. Doubt you will though.
And don't worry about the horror stories too much. The last Scoob I got rid of (WRX STi) in November, never missed a beat and was reliable as the day is long.
As I said to Olly on here, you can't beat an import. Higher spec and better condition. Only bitch is, it's hard to read the service history.
Yes, fuel is a consideration, but the noise of a flat-four on full chat is one of the nicest noises known to man. You'll beg, steal or borrow the money to fill it up dude.

Go for it. :y:

Still waiting for Leeroy to put his thoughts in....

If its your dream car....you really going to miss this opportunity?? There will be other Scoobies available in the future...

At the end of the day, its your choice....if it was me....i might wait longer...

well i have a subaru Legacy 2.0 16v AWD import style and its heavier on fuel but i love the car and i have had all the exhuast system done and it now purs and i wouldnt change it for anything.
And the insurance is that expensive unless ur looking at a turbo'd one.

if you can now afford an impreza and to run it, ud be ghey or a girl to want a saxo over that + as youv stated its your DREAM CAR! surely if it was youd have snapped it up without a though?

if you say you have a good job, i would keep the VTS and save up a bit to pay for the scoob, that way you could buy it trie it out and if its not for you, elbow it on:y:

something major could go wrong with your sax, or it could just fall apart like most? and as youv said pumping money into the sax isnt gonna see any better returns on it.

If you can afford it then sell it and get a Honda Civic Type R (one of the older shaped ones as opposed to the brand new ones).

Yeah, a mate of mine is in the local tango crew jap club (TENGOKU) and swears the civics are the way to go, quickest standard production car he reckons, and easily tunable too, trouble is, I dont really like the look of em... lol fussy twat, aint I..

you could get a vts up to the same speed as a scooby with the right money, but instead, sell me your car and have done with it :)
