Right,

I've been working as a Design Co-Ordinator for over 2 year at the same company.... Completed my NVQ in business management and done several other crap things like CSCS and health and safety garbage

Programme i use is called "Solidworks" and it's pretty rare to find companys that use it - especially as im only 21 and most design places like bags of experience

I know im underpaid here and really want a new job as its such a small company i really can't see myself getting on big money for some time (although we make millions a year the directors reep the rewards and pay the people who do the work peanuts!!)

I think i've had enough of working in an office but maybe that's just this place making me feel that way, i wouldn't mind a more hands on job or look into something like the Fire Brigade

Do i...

A) Grin and bear it, speak to my directors about my place here and see where they want me to be in a few year

B) Look for another job that uses solidworks

C) Piss off right this second and look for a factory job thats better paid untill i find a decent job / look into brigade

D) Go insane, smash the office up and then carry out option C)

Help before i burst into flames!

I rekon answer 'A' and 'B' are the best bet buddy....

if they value you as an employee then they will see that you are getting fed up if you go to talk to them...

EDIT - following on from the above.....

and would possibly give you a pay rise....or something as such...

E) Speak to my mates dad who is one of the top boyo's at a local electrolux factory and see how fast he can get me a job, hand my notice in here, punch boss in face, work in factory and speak to brigade

grab your boss by the throat and hold a blade to his face im sure you will get a pay rise that way :) jokes, seriously though mate if your not happy in your job have a word with your manager/director and explain that you need more money and like you say ask him/her where he wants you to be in a couple of years time within the company or you tell them where you would like to be in that time? and then say that if he cant offer you a substancial pay increase then you may have to leave the company...

Why don`t you apply to be a retained firefighter that way you get the best of both worlds, and I think it is a bit easier to get into than full service

Tupps
7th February 2008, 16:18
Retainer's is an option but as im sure you can appreciate i'd need a "normal" income and a permanent job

Mate's dad just emailed saying he could get me on the assembly work no bother but they're always temp work

Honesty is the best policy I reckon, make an appointment, tell them you feel undervalued and overworked and that you are contemplating leaving unless there are some job prospects to look to in the future....

Tell them you dread coming in to work and feel you're not getting ANY job stisfaction, not even in the salary department ;)

Good Luck!

If you join the fire service i officially HATE you!

It's really hard to get in, I apply every year and they still wont let me in. Probably because im just too sexy and they dont want me hurting my perfect body or face. Or maybe its because i cant see 100%. I personally think its the first option.

Im in the same situation as you mate, hate my job, bored to fcuk, want a more hands on job, but the difference is my money is quite good so i stay just for the hell of it.

If you do get in the fire service, give me some tips please. Ill be your friend :y:

Thats exactly what you shoudl be saying to them in the meeting, if they value you and your skills, as an employer they should do somethign about the way you feel, if they don't, should you be working with them in the first place?

Option D lol

On a series note choose option A and if they don't give you the answer your after go to option B if that fails stay in the job and look at the fire brigade rather than factory work and look into fire brigade.

hope that made atleast some sence lol

You going to do a silly american emo student type thing and come into work with a couple of hand guns and wild west the place before putting through your temple?

Know how you feel Tuppence, I'm in the CAD business too. I'm constantly battling to make 'old know it all bastards' shit ideas look good. And then cop the blame when no fucker likes it.

Worked in a builders merchant as a teenager cutting wood for orders using the big machines etc, was knackering but I miss it now...

Like in Fight club beat yourself up in his office, cover his hands in your blood and freak him out then get whatever you want via blackmail for not telling the police :y:

fire service wont take you on till your about 24/25, best bet is join the RAF as a fireman for a couple years then apply to be a fireman, almost guaranteed entry ! !
