I am hoping for a VTS soon but one thing that is putting me off is will I see much difference in power as at the moment I have a VTR. I know the VTS is 120bhp and my VTR is 98bhp, just dont wanna buy one and be dissapointed! Has anyone on here gone from a VTR to a VTS? If so, did you feel much difference inpower etc?

hello there

i presonaly have not done this VTR to VTS ... but and extra 22bhp in what is pritty much the same car and very close in weight will feel a bit different :) in a good way ;)

just me throughts

yep, there is a difference ;)

the vts revs alot more freely and sounds nice ;)
it pulls alot harder higher up the rev range than the vtr.

my vtr had a manifold, de-cat straight through system, enclosed filter etc and the vts feels faster than that did ;)

defo worth it, easier to tune as well, why tune a vtr to 120.130 bhp when you can get that as standard with a vts and then take it further ;)

go for it matey :)

Im running the same mods on my VTR! Well if I will be able to feel the difference I might go for one then. If not a VTS, maybe a 106 GTi as they are both the same.

Yeah, VTS rules over VTR, you'll love the difference, trust me. You'll wish you had done it sooner

Just been getting some quotes for a 106 GTI and the quotes I am getting seem to be cheaper than a VTS! Does anyone know why?

Think I will go with the GTI then. Just gotta try and find one now! Need one with low miles and want it to be on a 52 or an 03 plate. Wish me luck! Also what are the best exhaust systems for these? Pugsport? Would want one thats pretty loud but has good gains!

yeah i basically went from my vtr to a 106 gti and saw a massive difference. the gti was standard...and when i went from it to the tuned vts, i saw a massive difference too

ull be looking at alot more money for a newish good gti than the equivalent vts..

upto if u wonna pay the extra just for leathers and a dated dash..

i went from a furio to a vts and the difference was incredable! but then again the difference from my vts to my vxr was also incredable to

I dont really mind paying the extra because I do prefer the 106 interior. Will have a look round at the weekend and see if I can find one! :P

sorry if im sparking a debate here, but i was told the VTS is slightly faster than the GTI even thopugh they are pretty much the same, isnt the VTS lighter?

GTI_Lee

ive always thought that for normal daily driving, there isnt gonna be much difference because the vts really takes at high revs, and driving to work id tend not to change gear at 6k revs. up to about 4k is there not much difference? bit hard to compare that way i suppose.

Jazz

Same as whats been said really, driven both many times, VTS certainly a more energetic, faster drive. Above 4k revs it really does shift, surprises many bigger, butcher cars with it's acceleration :)

lol fair enough, but you'll shift it soon mate. They are pricey to run the S, but well worth it with the fun you get out of them. Just keep the tyres in good tread, I find mine likes to wheelspin in the wet with even low revs. Plus a traffic-light launch gets plenty of side-to-side dramatics, all part of the fun, but scares the passangers :P

haha yea, ive got poo tyres on front and it pulls me all over and spins in the dry!
cnt wait to get some proxies on it :)

For sure, I got Michelin Pilots on the front which were there when I got it, going to get me some Proxies next when these ones go. Grip isn't what it should be at the mo.
