is this true
Does your car have remote keyless entry? This may come in handy someday. Good reason to own a cell phone: If you lock your keys in the car and the spare keys are at home, call someone at home on their mobile phone from your cell phone.
Hold your cell phone about a foot from your car door and have the person at your home press the unlock button, holding it near the mobile phone on their end. Your car will unlock. Saves someone from having to
drive your keys to you. Distance is no object. You could be hundreds of miles away, and if you can reach someone who has the other 'remote' for your car, you can unlock the doors (or the boot).
Editor's Note: It works fine! We tried it out and it unlocked our car over a mobile phone!'

the theory behind it makes sense only if the key fob sneds out a radio signal and not an infra red one, because then the rdaio waves are travelling through the mic of one phone and out the speaker of the other, would be cool...

Some people say it works and some people say it don't. Heard about this ages ago, never tried it though.

LOL RF frequency being picked up by a mobile microphone and transmitted through space to a satellite, then re-broadcast by the mobile phone to the car.

Putting the fob to your head make it act like a an aerial - giving a stronger signal!
Mobile phone idea - rubbish!

Be cool if it did, seen the one on top gear where he put the remote next to his head and it worked.
