Hi,

One week after getting mybonnet resprayed because some pikey keyed it (£200 down the drain!) some pleasant git has decided to literally scribble his black marker pen over every panel and window - all except the bonnet! cheeky f*cker!

My local paint-shop advised me to try White Spirit to take the Marker off the paintwork... if this doesn't work is there any other options? I can remove the stuff off my windows, it's the crap on the paintwork I'm bothered about.

Anyone out please help.
Thanks

NOT white spirit.. Methylated spirit would be better.
try autoglym bug and tar remover, as that got red paint of my old white car with a bit of elbow grease.

Rae you sure about the White Spirit?
I was definitely told it won't damage the paint work (by the guy who did my bonnet.)

I've got some bug and tar remover - so will have to give that a go.

if its a permanent marker, use a normal (pencil) rubber to get it off ya have rub quite hard tho, nothing else will get it off the glass i wouldnt have thought smileys/smiley2.gif not sure bout the paint tho

Ive always been told, if using anything on the bodywork, methys is better than white spirit as it is less likely to penetrate the lacquer

da thing that will defeintly work is aftershave or deodrant sprayed onto it.n white spirit will not affect the paint work. all it will do is jus take any grease of.i use white spirit for cleanin my engline, and then just wash it off with warm water.

Righto - cheers for the help guys - Meths or White
Spirit it is then.

I could tell th einsurance but my excess if £250 - so
that why I got the bonnet done myself. If the marker
pen doesn't come off I may have to go through the
insurers - causing my premium to go up!

But I was looking to sell the car as I moving home in
a couple of months and I need the funds. The
annoying thing is that the car itself is great and has a
low mileage, and yet some pikey git vandalises it so
that delays me selling it. It such a pain in the butt!

Hey guys - guess what? - it's all sorted!!!!
the old rubber/eraser on the glass wored a treat (although some stuibborn bits needed extra attention.)
The paint work was a pain in the arse. Firstly: used White Spirit which got rid of most of it, but theer wree light areas where the marker had been. Then a bit of T-Cut removed that, with the odd bit still showing. Gave the motor a good washing, and then wax/polished it so much you could see Mars - and it's all cleared!

Took me a good few hours, but thanks for all your help!

As for beating the shite out of the twats who did it - no luck there! But saving money cheered me up!

Cheers again!

my manager at work has a mk1 golf that she uses white spirit on just before the show season, apparently it removes all the "grit" on the paint? although i heard meguiars do a "clay" for getting rid of this aswell, something i need to look into as my paint feels like a beach so much grit on there!
