I noticed that there is always a lot of oil on the head around where the exhaust manifold connects. I've a mk1 vts and a supersprint mani if that helps. Thought it might be the oil seals in the rocker cover, but it's a bit lower down than that so i'm a little lost. any help appreciated

Could be sump gasket mate... I know this may sound strange check your CV boot joint hasn't split as when mine had it had sprayed grease all over the underside of the manifold... :n:

Sounds like its coming from where the HG is..

Dont worry though, its not your HG giving up, they dont usually leak oil when they go anyway. What it is, is the oil gallery seal seeping, very common on TU's with abit of use, near enough every one i have seen do it..:y:

Can also leak from the rocker cover as well then the oil is blown around as you drive making it look like its coming from somewhere else.On a VTS there is no actual gasket itself take the rocker cover off & clean everything up then put instant gasket on the cylinder head & make sure you don`t over tighten the studs when you do it back up.

Pics please. More than likely to be from either:

Cam cover seals
Cam ladder seals
Oil filler cap
