Hi,
Just forked out on a recon G.box and Clutch fitted. Started to notice a noise and vibration when steering right, while moving away in low gears. Proper groaning sound. Sounds like engine is straining and feel a vibration through steering wheel pedals etc?!?!?
Not 100% sure its box/diff related as similar noise happens when stood still and turn steering wheel to right?
Any pointers as going back to garage on Monday to point the finger and want an idea what problem might be, before I'm fobbed off....
Thanks :flush:

Hi,
Had shafts done last summer...
Just happens turning right at low speed (or pulling away) in lower gears, like somethings straining?
Not sure it's anything rotary though as does it standing but not so bad - with engine running turn wheel and can hear this like groan noise, the revs dip and almost feel a shaking through steering wheel / pedals?
Could power steering pump be on its way or summat like that?

Could be pump on way out, or you could just need new fluid, if the fluid is black, you should channge it, it should be red

Okey doke - I'll pop to my local place in the morning perhaps and ask about the fluid.
Strange though as it's all started since I had the box done last week?...
I know the hydraulic pump is electric and draws from the engine via the alternator (which is new too), if the pump is going would it draw more power (straining engine) and would it only happen turning right?

it could draw more power,

Hi,
Problem still happening. Took it to Citroen who couldn't find anything wrong - didn't believe them so took the garage tech out for a spin and it had gone away! They checked the engine mounts and everything else seemed fine... They suggested I wait for something to go bang!
It's still going on - I can best describe it as a groaning / vibration through the steering wheel and pedals, when turning right at low speeds, or turning when stationary.... engine straining? Why? Help! :(

i think i may have the same problem as you, it doesnt do it all the time, i found that it only happens after the cars been driven for a while, this the same for you. i took mine to a garage and they said they couldnt find anything wrong with it aswell.

Yes mate!!!!!!!!

It was quite embaressing the other day, I would pay through the nose right now to get it sorted. But don't want to fork out on a rack/pump if that aint the problem....
Went for a spin this morning and it's still doing it. Turning when stationary "GROAN-RUMBLE" and when turning pulling away "GROAN-RUMBLE" but only turning going right?!

Convinced myself it's got to be pump/rack, but what why how who?!!?!

Help me help me!
