back box problem - diesel

hi everyone !!

i change today the back box of my exhaust. i put one a second hand one because the new cost 70£ instead of 25 i paid. The problem is that once i changed the exhaust i can smell gas inside the car for some reason. Checked the joint but it looks ok to me. Any clues ? thanks in advance

sounds like there is a leak, check the joint again, did you use some exhaust sealing paste between the joints ?

i didnt put anything to be honest, just tighten the nuts. i did not know i had to. do u know if i can my sealing paste from halfords ? thanks
