Got a problem with the saxo, sometimes whenever I come down a few gears and put it into 1st it seems to slip into place but I get nothing from it, accelerate, clutch up and... nothing! when it does this it won't let me select 2nd either so im having to pull away from junctions etc in 3rd :(

Has anybody any ideas/experience with this? it's really starting to get to me not to mention its a bit dangerous!

Thanks,

Gaz

could be gear linkages, synco meshs, gear box, clutch, etc...

Someone else said it could be linkages, It's still under it's months warranty cos I only got it last week, had it into the garage on friday there and when I went back to get it they just said "they'd had a look at it but couldnt find anything wrong" basically fobbed me off. They don't seem to understand its a intermittent fault.

I had a long hard look at it last night and it's as if when I just fling it into 1st as you do - it appears to sit in place but it's not actually in gear at all, so instead i have to persevere and actually find the gear until I feel it clunk into place.

I'm taking it back tomorrow and im telling them I don't want the car back until it's fixed.

Right. I had days left on the warranty so i took it back into the garage for them to look at it - two days later(today) they phoned to tell me it's going to be a while longer as they think a pin has came loose. I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to gearboxes so does this sound right to anyone or am I just being fobbed off? as it wouldnt be the first time they've tried it!
