I have noticed the fuel consumption in my GTi6 has been shockingly bad but I just put it down to my heavy right foot!

I got out of the car today and noticed a strong smell of petrol. Looked under the car to see a nice pool of the expensive stuff just in front of my rear wheel.

The leak apears to be coming from where something (I assume the fuel pump or filler pipe) joins the side of the fuel tank.

What I 1st need to know is what is it likely to be.

Secondly how do I drain the tank i order to take the whole thing apart?!

Thaks for your help,

Matt

Run the car low on fuel first to see if it is the tank leaking it maybe a return pipe

Probably your fuel filter mate.. mine was shagged and it was leaking out. just in front of the passenger side rear wheel. check the pipe connections too. Edit:Thats if theyre in the same position as a saxo..ooops
