Hey guys some IDIOT!!! decided to drive on my side of the road 2nite and as i love my car i didn't particularly want to crash into him so i ended up kerbing my alloys (again) but more importantly this time the tires too...

On the side wall there is a tiny little chunk missing from the lip

Will i be safe to drive?

Can you see cords in the hole or is just rubber?

JUst had another look the tires seem ok. The rim of the tire comes slightly over the alloys and thats whats been scrubbed off all i can see is rubber

If the edge od the tyre comes over the rim, they are made to protect your rim, unless it is really deep, it will be fine.

Considering that the tyre is the only part of the vehicle in contact with the road, and all the forces are transmitted through them, I'd be tempted to get them checked or replaced at the first suggestion of any damage.

But as they say, "It's your funeral."

I would change it tbh. Had a few nicks out of my tyres when i brought my saxo, replaced them straight away.

Depending on the make, some tyres (federal, i know of for sure) are made to protect rims as they have a lip thatcoes out further than the rim so if you have to curb, doesn't ruin rims. Depends on the make of tyre. What make are they??

Toyo's low profile

I know they don't have a lip like the federals do. I think it all just depends on how deep it is. If it doesn't look that deep you will be fine, the walls on the tyres are quite thick so you don't have to buy a new tyre every time you clip a kerb. As long as it isn't leaking air and isn't really deep, it wouldn't bother me and i work in a garage, i see loads of tyres with chunks out of them.

On the unlikely chance there is something wrong what could happen?

You may be lucky and nothing happens, on the other hand, you may be quite happily dong 70 in the outside lane when your tyre suddenly deflates.
